November Court 1732
335 Justices of the Said County and Acknowledged himself Indebted to his Said Lordship in the Sum of five pounds Sterling money of great Brittaine to be leveyed on the Lands and Tenements goods and Chattles Conditionally that if a Certain James Hogans do not make his personall appearance at next Court to be held for the Said County on the third Tuesday of November next And answer to an assault made on a Certain John Gambell then this Recognizance to be void otherwise to be in full force and vertue John Evans And now here at the third tuesday in November being the twenty first day of Said Month It is Ordered by the Court that the afd Recognizance be discharged The afd Samuel Norris's his Recognizance taken as afd for the appearance of the afd James Hogans is by this Court here discharged there being no cause Shewn to the Contrary
County afd within the Jurisdicon of this Court in and upon Samuel Norris in the peace of God and of the Said Lord proprietary then and there being with force and Arms an assault did make and him the Said Samuel then and there did beat wound and evilly treat So that of his life it was much despared and other harms to him then and there did to the great damage of the Said Samuel and against the peace of the Lord proprietary his good rule and dignity &c.a The Same Indictment was endorsed as foll. viz.t A true bill p James Moore foreman And now here at this Court came the afd John Gambell in his proper person and Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought nor but that he is Guilty of the assault afd as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereupon he Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent County Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in November being the twenty first day of Said Month Anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty two That the afd John Gambell pay the Sum of two hundred pounds of Tobacco to his Lordship the Lord proprietor &c.a as a fine for Commiting the assault afd in form afd Confest Also it is Considered by the Justices afd That the Same John Gambell pay the Sum of one hundred and Eighty four pounds of Tobacco costs accruing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court Kent County fs Be it Remembred that on the tenth day of October Anno Domini One thousand Seven hundred and thirty two John Gambell of the Said County planter personally appeared before me one of his Lordships the Lord prop.rys Justices of the Said County and Acknowledged himself to Stand Indebted to his Said Lord Ship his heirs and Successors in the Sum of twenty pounds Sterling money of great to be leveyed on his Lands and Tenements goods and Chattles Conditionally that if he do not make his personall appearance at the next Court to be held for the Said County |
