Kent County fs.t  The Jurors for the Right honourable the
Lord prop.ry that now is for Kent County afd upon their Oath
do present that Rachel Bostick late of Shrewsbury
parish in the County afd Spinster the tenth day of March Anno Domini Seventeen
hundred thirty & one at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdicion of this
Court did Commit fornication with a person to the Jurors afd unknown and did permit
the Same unknown person then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her
body and to beget then and there a bastard child on the body of her the Same
Rachel to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all
others in such case offending contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his
good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in that
case made and provided

    The same was endorsed as foll. viz.t True bill p James Moore foreman
And the afd Rachel being called came and in her proper person appeared and
Saith that She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So afd against her brought nor
but that She is guilty of the premisses and thereupon Submits to the Court

    Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent County
Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in
November being the twenty first day of Said Month Anno Domini Seventeen
hundred and thirty two  That the afd Rachel Bostick pay the Sum of Six
hundred pounds of Tobacco as a fine for Commiting the offence of fornication afd
in form afd Confest  And also it is Considered That the Same Rachel pay
the Sum of two hundred and Six ^forty four^ pounds of Tobacco costs accruing on the premisses
afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that Security be gave to pay the County the
fine afd  Thereupon Samuel Bostick Jun.r and John Brown Jun.r both
present here in Court in their proper persons Do assume to pay to the Justices
of this Court for the use of the County at November Anno Dom. Seventeen
hundred and thirty two pounds of Tobacco the afd Sum of Six hundred pounds
of Tobacco and thereof the afd Rachel is Acquit
