323 and there feloniously did Steal take and bear away contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such case lately made and provided The Same Indictment endorsed as foll. viz.t A true bill p Edw.d Worrell foreman And at the third tuesday in August being the fifteenth day of Said Month Anno Domini Seventeen hundred and thirty two The afd Margaret being called Came and prayed that the afd Indictment against her might be Continued untill the third tuesday in November then next ensuing which was granted &c.a And now here at the Same third tuesday in November being the twenty first day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty two Came againe the afd Margaret Wood in her proper person And the Honourable the Lord prop.ry by Tench Francis his att.ry &c.a And the afd Margaret Wood in her proper person cometh and Saith that She is in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon her imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof She puteth her Self upon the Country Margaret Wood in p.r p.a And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith She is guilty T francis p Ld p.ry Thereupon Command was given to the Sherrif of Kent County that he Immediately move to come here twelve &c.a by whom &c.a who neither &c.a To Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a Of which Said precept the Said Sherrife to wit John Gresham Gentl. now here at this day to wit the third tuesday in November being the twenty first day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty two makes return that he hath here ready twelve &c.a As by his precept he was Commanded And now here afterwards to wit the day and Year last mentioned came againe the afd Lord prop.ry by his attorney afd And the afd Margaret Wood in her proper person And the Jurors of that Jury being impannelled and called likewise came to wit John Derrick Samuel Norris Luknor Middleton John James William Hynson Robert Meeks John Carvill Thomas Piner Bulman Medford William Smithers William Moore and George Medford who being duely elected tryd and Sworn to Say the truth the premisses upon their Oath do Say Margaret Wood is guilty of the felony whereof She Stands indicted and by John Derrick there foreman all so say Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent County Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in November being the twenty first day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty two That the afd Margaret Wood Stand in the pillory for the Space of one hour and that afterwards She Receive at the publick whipping post fifteen Lashes well laid on her bare back till the blood appear And also pay the four fold of the Goods afd Amounting in Value to the Sum of two hundred pounds of Tobacco As a punishment for Committing the Crime afd According to force form and effect of the Verdict of the Jurors afd Also it is Considered that the |
