June Court 1732 And the afd Rachel Middleton comes and in her proper person Saith that She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her brought nor can She Say but that She is guilty of the premisses afd as by the afd Indictment is Sett forth and thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at a Court held for Kent County at the Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in June being the twentieth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty two That the afd Rachel Middleton Receive on her bare laid on tell the blood appear as a punishment for Committing the fornication afd in form afd Confest and also it is Considered by the Court here that the Same Rachel pay the Sum of three hundred Tobacco costs and Charges accrued on the premisses afd &c.a It is also Considered by the Court here the Same day last mentioned That the Sherf of Kent County take the afd Rachel Middleton into his Custody and Execute the Punishment in the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring her into Court againe of which precept to wit Joseph Young Gent high Sherf of Kent County makes return on the day and Year last mentioned That he hath Executed the punishment with Judgment afd Specified And also hath here the afd Rachel before the Court Ordered by the Court here that the Sherf of Kent County keep the afd Rachel in Safe Custody untill the fees afd Shall be Satisfied Afterwards Came M.r George Skirven and Said he would pay the fees afd for the afd Rachel Ordered that the afd Rachel give Security to keep the County Indemnified from the charges that may or Shall accrue to y.e Co.ty by means of the afd fornication Thereupon Luknor Middleton of Said County planter and Acknowledged himself Indebted to the Right Honourable the the Lord prop.ry in the Sum of five Thousand pounds of Tobacco to be paid to his Said Lord Ship his heirs and Successors to be made and leveyed on his body Goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements Conditionally that if the afd Child that was delivered of the afd Rachel or by means of the Same Shall ^not^ be of any Charge to the County wherewith he aknowledges himself Content Jam.s Smith Clk
