257 Saith that he is in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon him imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof he putteth himself upon the Country Noah Hampton in p.r p.a And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty Tench Francis p L.d prop.ry Thereupon Command was given to the Shere of Kent County that he immediately cause to come here twelve &c.a by whom &c.a who neither &c.a To Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a Of which Said pcept the Said Shere to wit Joseph Young Gent now here at this day to wit the third tuesday in Novem.r being the Sixteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one makes return that he hath here ready twelve &c.a as by his precept he was Commanded And now here afterwards to wit the day and Year last mentioned Came againe the afd Lord prop.ry by his att.ry afd and the afd Noah in his proper person and the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled and called likewise came to wit Robert Dunn John Tilden William Granger William Deane Sam.l Thomas Edward Worrell John Hankins John Macay Rich.d Dowdall John Trew Samuel Wallis and Francis Bellar who being duely elected tryd and Sworn to Say the truth in the premisses upon their Oath do Say Noah Hampton afd is not guilty of the Dealing and receiving from the afd Adam three half pence as above mentioned and by Robert Dunn there foreman all So Say Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at a Court held for Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in November being the Sixteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one That the afd Noah Hampton as to the afd Information it is alledged but that he be therefrom Acquit and go thereof without day &c.a It is also Considered by the same Court That the afd Noah Hampton pay the Sum of Eight hundred forty three pounds of Tobacco costs accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court Jam.s Smith Clk The afd Noah Hampton at the third tuesday in August last being the Seventeenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one The Same Noah Hampton with Abraham Ambros ent.rd into Recognizance for his appearance to this Court to answer as above mentioned And now here at the third tuesday in Nov.r being the Sixteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty one Came the afd Noah and in his proper person app.rd and prayd that he might be Acquited from the afd Recognizance and also his Surety Ordered by the Court here That the Same Noah and his Surety there recognizances be discharged Thereupon the Same Noah Recognizance being taken in the Sum of twenty pounds Sterl |
