November Court 1731 Jones of K.t Coty planter Acknowledged himself Indebted unto the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry of Maryland his heirs & Successors Ten pounds Starling to be Levey'd on his Body goods & Chattles Lands &c.a Conditionally if the afd Griffeth Jones doth not make his personall appearance before the Justices of his Lopps Court to be held at Chester Town in Kent County the third tuesday in Nov.r next then and there to prosecute in behalf of his Lopp a Certain William Body of Sd County for beating & abuseing of him the Said Griffeth Jones &c.a Then this recognizance to be void otherwise to remain in full force Taken before me one of the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.rys Justices for Kent County Henry Evans And now at this Court to wit the third tuesday in November being the Sixteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one Came the afd Griffith Jones and in his proper person appeared and prayd the afd Recognizance might be disch.d Ordered by the Court here that the Same Recognizance be disch.d Thereupon the Same Recognizance is by this Court here disch.d Griffith Jones Sworn to the Grand Jury and James Brown attested Thereupon the Grand Jury returns a bill of Indictment of assault against Same &c.a And the Same being called appears and by the Court is Committed into the Custody of the Sherf of Kent County untill he Shall give Security for his appearance to next Court Thereupon Comes into Court Nehemiah Powell and John Body both of Kent County planters and Acknowledged themselves indebted to the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry in the Sum of tenn pounds Sterling Each to be paid to his Said Lord Ship his heirs and Successors to be made and leveyed on their Goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements Conditionally that if the afd William Body Shall not make his personall appearance at the next Court to be held at our Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March next to Answer unto what Shall be objected against him on his Lord Ships behalf on account of Indictment against him for assaulting the afd Griffith Jones and in the mean time the Same William is to be of Good behav.r wherewith they Acknowledge themselves Content
