Indictment for fornication William Farth of
Queen Anns County entered into Recognizance
at last Court for the Appearance of the afd Joan
at this Court  And now here at this Court to wit at
the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in
August being the Seventeenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen
hundred and thirty one came the afd Joan Anderson and in her proper person
appeared  Ordered by the Court here that the Same Recognizance for her
appearance be disch.d    Thereupon the Same William Farths
Recognizance in the Sum of five Thousand pounds of Tobacco for the
appearance of the afd Joan Anderson be disch.d no cause being Shewn
too the Contrary &c.a

    Kent County fs  The Jurors for the RIght Honourable the Lord prop.ry that
now is for Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that Joan Anderson Late
of S.t Pauls Parish in the County afd the Servant of John Wilson the tenth
day of November Anno Domini Seventeen hundred & thirty at the Parish afd
in the County afd within the Jurisdicion of this Court Did Commit fornication
with a Certain person to the Jurors afd unknown and did permit the Same
unknown Person then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her body and
to beget then and there a Bastard Child on the body of her the Same Hannah
to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all
others in Such case Offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry
that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act
of Assembly in that case made and provided                T francis Cler. pac.
            A true bill Matthew Howard

    And the afd Joan Anderson in her proper person cometh and Saith that
She is in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the
afd Indictm.t it is alledged and thereof She puteth herself upon the
Country                                                        Joan Anderson in p.r p.a

    And he who followeth for the Same Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith She is
guilty

    But now here at this Court to wit the Seventeenth day of August
