Court 1728 On the Back of the proceeding Indictm.t was Endorst as foll Billa Vera Henry Evans And the afd Eliz.th in her proper person Comes and Defends his force and Enjury and Saith that She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her brought nor but that She is guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereupon Submitts to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court House in the Town of Chester in said County the Eighteenth Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty & Eight that the afd Eliz.th receive at the Publick whiping Post fifteen Lashes well Laid on her bare back till the Blood Appears as a punishment for her afd Crime of Committing fornication in form afd Confest As Also that She pay the Sum of three hundred & twenty pounds of tobacco Costs Accrueing on the psses afd to the officers of this Court Ja.s Smith Clk The remainder of this Judgm.t is in folio 13
Suretys Recogniz.c be Discharged Phillemon Church of Kent County Planter at Last Court as afd Acknowledged himself Indebted unto the Lord prop.ry of this Province of Maryland in the Sum of One hundred pound Sterl money afd to be Leveyed & Conditionally that if he Should not make his personal appearance before the Justices of the then next Court to be held for Kent County afd at the Court house in the Town of Chester and if that in the mean time he should not be of good behaviour and now at this Court to wit the Eighteenth Day of June Anno 1728 the said Phill.n Church appearing his recognizance is Discharged |
