to wit at Chester Town in the afd County the fifteenth day of June Anno Domini Seventeen
hundred thirty and one and for the Same Lord prop.ry doth give the Court here to
Understand and be informed that George Copper Jun.r of Saint pauls parish in the County
afd labourer the tenth day of May in the year afd at the parish afd in the County afd
within the Jurisdicion of this Court in and upon Elizabeth Gallaway in the peace
of God and of the Said Lord prop.ry then & there being with force & Arms an
assault did make and her the Said Elizabeth then and there did beat wound &
evilly treat So that of her life it was much despaired and other harms to
her then & there did to the great damage of the Same Elizabeth and Contrary to
the peace of the Same Lord prop.ry his good rule & government &c.a wherefore
the afd Attorney prayeth the advice of the Court here in the premisses for the Said
Lord prop.ry and due process of Law against the afd George in this part to
Issue to Answer to the Said Lord prop.ry of an upon the premisses &c.a

    And the afd George Copper Jun.r being called came and in his proper person
appeared to the afd Information and Saith that he cannot gainsay the
Information afd So as afd against him brought nor but that he is guilty of the
premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd Information it is alledged
and thereupon Submits to the Court    Therefore it is Considered by the
Justices here to wit At the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County
on the third tuesday in June Anno being the fifteenth day of Said Month
Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one That the afd George
Copper Jun.r pay the Sum of five hundred pounds of Tobacco to the use
of his Ld Ship his heirs or Successors &c.a as a fine for Committing the
assault afd as afd Confest And also pay the Sum of two hundred and
Nineteen pounds of Tobacco Costs accrueing to the Officers of this Court
on the premisses afd &c.a        Ordered by the Court here that Security
be gave for the fine afd  Thereupon Came into Court William Copper
of Said County planter and Saith he will pay for the afd George Copper
Jun.r the fine afd in the Judgment afd Specified being five hundred
pounds of Tobacco
