Kent County fs Memorand.m that ^one^ 21 day
of May 1731 personally appeared before me John
Evans one of his Lord Ships Justices of the peace
for Kent County afd George Copper and Nehemiah Powell planter of s.d
County and Acknowledged themselves to owe and Stand Justly indebted unto
the Right Honourable the Lord propry of this province in the Sum of
twenty pounds good and Lawfull money of Great Brittain of there goods
and Chattles Lands and Tenements Separately to be made and Levyed
for the use of the Said Lord prop.ry and Successors in Case that if the A
bounden George Copper Shall personally appear at our next County
Court to be held for Kent County the Third tuesday in June next and to
Answer unto Such Matters as Shall be objected against him by Elizabeth
Gallaway of the Said County Concerning an assault and Battery lately
made upon the Said Elizabeth Gallaway by the above bound George
Copper and Conscerning Som other misdemeanors tending to the Breach
of the peace and that if he do not depart without Leave of the Court
that then this Recognizance to be void otherwise to be and Remain in
force and vertue Taken and Acknowledged before me John Evans

    And now here at this Court to wit at the Court House in the Town of Chester
in Said County on the third tuesday in June being the fifteenth day of
Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one Came
the afd George Copper and in his proper person appeared to the afd
Recognizance and prayd the Same Might be Disch.d  Ordered by the Court
here That the Same Recognizance be disch.d    Thereupon The afd
George Copper his Recognizance as afd is discharged there being no
cause Shewn to the Contrary  Also Nehemiah Powells Recognizance
for the appearance of the afd George Copper is discharged &c.a

    Ordered by the Court here That Tench Francis Clarke of the Indictments
of this Court Exhibit an Information on the Same assault ag.st the afd
George Which being accordingly done is as foll. Kent County fs
Memorandum that Tench Francis Gent Attorney of the Right Honourable
the Lord prop.ry that now is for the County afd who for the Same Lord prop.ry
this part prosecuteth doth come here into Kent County Court before William
Frisby Esq.r and his associates his Lordships Justices of the Same Court Came
