Current money of Maryland and to have on her bare back fifteen Lashes well
laid on her bare back till the blood appear and as a punishment for
Committing the Crime afd as by the Verdict of the Jurors afd She is found guilty
and also pay the Sum of Nine hundred Seventy Nine pounds Tob.o Costs
accrueing on the premisses afd to the Officers of this Court

    It is also Considered by the Court here at this day to wit the day and
year last mentioned that the Sherf of Kent County take the afd Joan Anderson
into his Custody and Execute the punishment in the Judgment afd Specified and
afterwards to bring him into Court againe of which precept to wit Joseph
Young Gent. high Sherf of Kent County makes return on the day & year
last Said that he hath Executed the punishment in the afd Judgment
and also hath here the Same Joan Anderson before the Court

upon their Oath do present that Joan Anderson late of
S.t Pauls parish in the County afd Spinster the Serv.t
of John Wilson the tenth day of February Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred &
thirty with force and Arms at the parish afd in the County afd within the
Jurisdicion of this Court one linnen handkerchiefe of the value of fifty
pounds of tobacco of the goods and Chattles of a Certain Lidia Bruton then
and there being found then and there feloniously did Steal take and bear away
Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry that now is his good rule and
Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such case
lately made and provided                                    T francis Cler. pac.

    And the afd Joan Anderson in her proper person cometh and Saith that
She is in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by
the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof She putteth herself upon

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sherrife of Kent County
that he Immediately cause to come here twelve &c.a by whom &c.a who
