Nov.r Court 1730 Jurisdicon of this Court in and upon a Certain John Griffith In the peace of God & of the Said Lord prop.ry then and there being with force and arms an assault did make and him the Said John then and there did beat wound and evilly treat So that of his life it was much dispaired and other harms to him then and there did to the great damage of the Said John and against the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry That now is his good rule & dignity &c.a Test John Griffith T ffrancis Cler. pac. The Same Endorsed as folls viz.t A True Bill pine Roger Hicks foreman And the afd Samuel came and in his prop.r pson appeared to the afd Indictment And also in his proper person comes & Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought nor but that he is guilty of the assault above upon him alledged as by the afd Indictment is Sett forth And thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit Att the Court House in the Town of Chest.r in Said County on the third tuesday in Nov.r being the Seventeenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty That the afd Samuel Clarke be find two hundred pounds of Tobacco for his offence afd as afd Confest to the use of his Lordships &c.a and also pay the Sume of three hundred Sixty three pounds of Tob.o Costs accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court Ordered by the Court here That Joseph Young Gent Sherf of Kent County keep the afd Samuel Clarke in Safe Custody untill the fine & fees afd shall be Satisfied Jam.s Smith Clk The afd Samuel being Ordered to give Security for his app.rc at Some time aft.r during this Court Setting The Same in his prop.r pson appeared. And acknowledged himselfe Indebted to The Right Honour.ble The Lord prop.ry in the Sum of tenn pounds Sterl to be Leveyd on his body Goods & Chattles Lands & Tenem.ts Conditionally That if he Should not app.r at any time hereafter during this Courts Setting to Answ.r unto which Should be objected against him on his Lordships behalfe in vexation to the afd Indictm.t of assault & also that he was to be of good behav.r Content And now here at this Court afterwards came the afd Sam.l in his pper p.rson and app.rd and prayd he might from the afd Recogniz.c be disch.d Ordered by the Court here That the Same Recognizance be disch.d as prayd The afd Samuel Recognizance in the Sum of ten pounds Sterl for his app.rc as afd is by This Court here disch.d &c.a |
