131 good rule and Government &c.a T francis cler. pacis On the back of the Same Indictment was endorsed as foll viz.t A true bill of Vera by W.m Crowe foreman And the afd Thomas Gresham in his proper pson comes and Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought Nor but that he is guilty of the assault above mentioned as by the afd Indictment it is alledged And thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court House in the Town of Chester on Chester River in Said County on the third tuesday in June being the Sixteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty That the same Thomas Gresham pay the Sume of five hundred pounds of Tobacco to the use of his Said Ld Ship his heires and Successors as a fine for Committing the assault afd and also pay the Sume of one hundred and Twenty Seven pounds of Tobacco Cost accrueing on the premisses afd to the Jurors of this Court Jam.s Smith Clk M.r Tench Francis Clerk of the Indictments as afd of this Court here present in Court moves that the Same Thomas Gresham may give Security for the fine afd Ordered by the Court here that the Same Thomas give Security for the Said fine On which Richard Gresham of Said County here psent in Court cometh and Saith that he will pay the afd fine of five hundred pounds of Tobacco for the afd Thomas Gresham to his Said Lordship his heires and Successors to any of them order The afd Thomas Gresham entered into Recognizance this Court in the Sum of tenn pounds Sterl to be Leveyed on his body Goods and Chattles Lands and tenements to the use of his Lord Ship his heires and Successors Conditionally that if he Should not at any time here in this Court Sitting answ.r unto what Should be objected against ^him^ on his Lord Ship be made On acco.t of An Assault Committed in the Court House Yard ^against a Certain William Haley^ And that in the mean time he was to be of Good behav.r &c.a And now here afterwards came the afd Thomas Gresham and in his proper pson into Court and Appeared to the Same Recognizance
Kenslagh in the peace of God and of the Said Lord proprietarie then & there did beat wound and evilly treat So that of his life it was much dispared and other harms to him then and there did to the great damage of the Same Dominick & Contrary to the peace of the Same Lord prop.ry that was his Good Rule & Governm.t &c.a Test John Evans W.m Graves James Moore Arth.r Foreman T ffrancis Cler. pac.
