carnal knowledge of her body and to beget then and there a bastard Child on the body
of her the Same Elizabeth to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to the
Evil Example of all others in Such offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord
prop.ry that now is his good Rule and Governm.t and against the form of the Act of
Assembly in that Case made and provided

as foll viz.t A true bill p Gid.n Pearce foreman

    And the afd Eliz.a Rennalls in her pper p.rson Comes and Saith that She cannot gainsay
the Indictment afd So as afd against her brought nor but that She is guilty of the
premises above upon her imposed as by the afd Indictm.t it is alledged and thereupon
Submits to the Court  Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at
the Court House in the Town of Chest.r in Said County on the third tuesday in June
being the Sixteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty
that the afd Elizabeth Rennalls Receive at the publick whipping post on her
bare back fifteen Lashes well laid on tell the blood appeare as a punishm.t
for Committing the Crime of fornication afd and also pay the Sum of two hundred
and Seventy three pounds of Tob.o Cost accrueing on the premises afd to the
officers of this Court

    It is also Considered by the Court her[e] to wit the Same day & year last
mentioned that the Sherf of Kent County take the afd Elizabeth Rennalls into his Custody
and Execute the Punishment in the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring her
into Court againe  Off which Said precept the Said Sherf to wit Joseph Young Gent
high Sherf of Kent County makes return on the day and year last mentioned that he hath
executed the punishment in the Judgm.t afd And also hath here ready the Said Eliz.a
before the Court

    Ordered by the Court here That the Said Elizabeth Serve for trouble &c.a
The afd Elizabeth Rennals to Serve at the Expiration of her new Service to her
Master four Months it being for trouble Loss of time disgrace and charges in her
Lying one  And that her Mast.r deliv.r her up at Expiration of the
Same time to the Court or Sherf

 An Assault being Committed in the Court House Yard
before Some of the Justices by the Said Rich.d the
Sherf of Kent County to wit Joseph Young is ordered
to bring the Same Rich.d Immediately before the
Court to Answer the Same  Thereupon afterwards
the Sherf came and made return of his Said War.t  Endorst Cepi and that
he had the Said Rich.d Gresham before the Court and the afd Rich.d in his
proper person appeared before the Court And the Court orders that the
Same Rich.d Enter into Recognizance for his appearance and Good behav.r at
any time dureing this Court So Sitting

    And the afd Rich.d Gresham in his proper person her[e] present in Court
comes and Acknowledges himselfe Indebted to the Right Honourable the Lord
propry in the Sume of tenn pounds Sterl to be Leveyed on his body Goods &
Chattles Lands and Tenements to the use of his Lord Ship his heires
and Successors Conditionally that if he Shall not appear at any time dureing
