labourer Serv.t of W.m Copper the tenth day of Febry Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred
and twenty ^and^ Nine with force and Arms at the parish afd in the County afd within the
Jurisdicion of this Court One Mare of a Gray colour of the price of Nine hundred
pounds of Tobacco of the goods and Chattles of a Certain Robert Dunn then and there
being found then and there did feloniously did Steal take and ride away Contrary to the
peace of the Said Lord propry that now is his good rule and Government against the
form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case Lately made and provided
Test W.m Copper                                                                            T ffrrancis Cler. pac.
On the back of y.e pceeding Indictm.t was endorst as foll viz.t A true bull p Gid.n Pearce foreman

    And the afd Emanuel Drew in his proper pson cometh and Saith that he is in
no Sort guilty of the premises above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictm.t it is
alledged and thereof he putteth himselfe upon the Country

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty
                                                                                    T ffrancis p L.d p.ry

    And now here at this Court Notwithstanding the plea afd the Same Emanuel Drew
comes into Court And with draws his plea afd  And in his proper person comes and
Saith that he cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought nor but
that he is guilty of the premisses afd above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictm.t
it is alledged And Thereupon Submits to the Court   Therefore it is Considered by
the Justices here to wit at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on
the third Tuesday in March being the Seventeenth day of Said Month Anno Dom.
Seventeen hundred and twenty Nine  That the afd Emanuel Drew Stands in the
pillory for the Space of one quarter of an hour and that afterwards he Receive at
the publick whipping post five Lashes well laid on his bare back till the blood
appear as a punishm.t for his afd Crime of felony according to the force
form and Effect of his Confession afd Also it is Considered that the Said
Emmanuel Drew pay the Sume of Three pounds Current money it being that
part the Court adjudges You to pay of the four fold of y.e afd goods Stoln being
halfe and also the Sume of three hundred and thirty pounds of Tobacco Cost accrueing
on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    It is also Considered by the Court here at this day to wit the day and year last
mentioned  That the Sherf of Kent County take the afd Emanuel Drew into his Custody
and Execute the punishment in the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring him
into Court againe Off which precept the said Sherf to wit Joseph Young Gent high
Sherf of Kent County makes return on the day and year last Said that he hath
Executed the Said Judgment and also hath here the said Emanuel Drew before
this Court

                            Ordered by the Court House y.e S.d W.m Copper his Master at the
Expiration of his time Serv.d ^y.e s.d Emanuel^ app.r to the Court or Sherf
