prop.ry that now is for the body of Kent County upon their Oath
do present that George Harrington late of S.t pauls Parish in the County
afd labourer Servant to George Copper the tenth day of February
Anno Dom Seventeen hundred twenty and Nine with force and Arms at
the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court one
Mare of a Grey colour of the price of Nine hundred pounds of Tobacco
of the goods and Chattles of a Certain Robert Dunn then and there being
found then and there did feloniously did steale take and ^Lead^ away Contrary to the
peace of the Said Lord propry that now is his good Rule and Governm.t against
the form of the act of Assembly in Such Latly made and provided
    Test W.m Copper                                        T ffrancis Cler. pac.
            On the back of y.e p.rceeding Instrum.t a Indictm.t was endorst as foll viz.t A true bill
                                                                                        p Gid.n Pearce foreman

    And the afd George Harrington in his proper person cometh and Saith that he is in
no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon him imposed as by the afd Indictment it is
alledged and thereof he putteth himselfe upon the Country

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty
                                                                                                T ffrancis p Ld prop.ry

    And now here Notwithstanding the plea afd the Same George Harrington
comes into Court and withdraws his plea afd And in his proper person comes &
Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought nor
but that he is guilty of the premises upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it
is alledged And thereupon Submits to the Court  Therefore it is Considered
by the Justices here to wit At the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said
County on the third tuesday in March being the Seventeenth day of Said Month Anno
Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Nine That the afd George Harrington Stand in the
pillory for the Space of one quarter of an hour  And afterwards Receive at the publick
whipping post on his bare back five Lashes tell the blood appear as a
punishment for his afd Crime of felony according to the force form and effect of his
Confession afd  Also it is Considered that the Said George Harrington pay the
Sume of three pounds Current money it being that part the Court adjudges you to pay
of the four fold of the afd Goods Stoln being half and also the Sume of three hundred
and thirty pounds of Tobacco Cost Accrueing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court

    It is also Considered by the Court here to wit the Same day and year last mentioned
that the Sherf of Kent County take the afd George Harrington into his Custody and Execute
the punishment for the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring him into Court against
of which precept the Said Sherf to wit Joseph Young Gent high Sherf of Kent County
makes return on the day and year last Said That he hath Executed the Said
Judgment and also hath here the Said George Harrington before the Court
