1729 with a Certain Negroe person to the Jurors afd unknown and did permitt the Same unknown persn then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her body and to begett then and there a Bastard Mullato Child on the body of her the Same Ann to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all Others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord Proprietarie that now is his good rule and Governm.t and against the form of the Act of Assembly in that Case made and provided Test Jos Young Kath.a Kelley T ffrancis Cler. pac. On the back of the preceeding Indictm.t was endorsed as foll viz.t A true bill p Gid.n Pearce foreman And the afd Anne Ward In her proper person Comes and Saith that She cannot gainsay the Indictm.t afd So as afd against her brought nor but that She is guilty of the premises above upon her Imposed by permitting a Negro person to have Carnal knowledge of her body and to begett a bastard Mullatto Child as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereupon Submitts to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit At the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County On the Seventeenth day of March Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Nine That the afd Ann Ward being a Servant as afd Shall finish her time of Service and then Shall Serve to the use of this County for and dureing the time and terme of Seven Years as a punishment for Committing the offence afd according to Act of Assembly in Such Case lately made and provided &c And also pay the Sume of two hundred and five pounds of Tob.o Cost accruing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court Ord.rd by the Court that She be D.d up to the Court a Sherf at the Expiration of her time Ordered by the Court here that the afd Mullatto Child that was delivered of the afd Ann Ward be Sold. On which Came into Court M.r Joseph Young of Said County And Saith he will pay the County for the Same Child four hundred pds of Tobacco On which the Court Sells the Same untill it Arrives at the Age of thirty one Years Ordered by the Court here that the afd Mullatto Child that was delivered of Elizabeth Carr as by the Judgm.t in fo 107 may appear be Sold On which Came into Court Christopher Bateman Jun.r of said County And Said he will pay the County for the Same Child four hundred pounds of Tobacco on which the Court Sells the Same untill it Arrives at the age of thirty one Years
