and expended as provided by law; and the County Commission-
ers shall prescribe the form of bookkeeping for the Sheriff's
office and shall annually cause an audit to be made of his ac-
counts.
Section 533A. The Sheriff of Montgomery County shall
collect all fines, costs, charges or other monies which under the
law as it existed prior to the passage of this act it was his duty
to collect, and exercise all powers conferred upon him by law
to enforce the collection of the same, and shall at the first
meeting of the County Commissioners held in the months of
March, June, September and December make a report of the
same under oath in such forms as said County Commissioners
may direct and pay over the fund upon order of said County
Commissioners, and whenever any Sheriff shall retire from
office leaving uncollected any monies in criminal cases lawfully
payable to him, as aforesaid, it shall be the duty of his succes-
sor to collect and pay over the same; and it shall be the duty
of the Sheriff to keep in his office in a proper book for the
purpose an official record of the monies to be collected by him
and those which have so been collected, which book shall re-
main in his office after the expiration of his term for the use
of his successor.
Section 533B. That the Sheriff of Mont-omery County is
hereby authorized and required to appoint at least seven deputy
sheriffs for said county, who shall be mounted as said Sheriff
shall direct, and shall be paid by said Sheriff such salary or
salaries as said Sheriff, with the approval of said County Com-
missioners shall fix and determine out of the sum of $3,500
herein levied for the use of said Sheriff for said purpose. That
said deputies shall hold office at the pleasure of the Sheriff and
shall be removed by said Sheriff at any time said Sheriff may
elect or by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, upon
indictment and conviction as now provided by law. That it
shall be the duty of the Sheriff of the county to require said
deputies to daily patrol the said district in which said deputy
has been appointed and designated and to render every service
as is usually required of constables and patrolmen now em-
ployed by tbe County Commissioners of said county, and also
to do and perform at any time in any place in said county any
service incident to the office of a deputy of the Sheriff of said
county which they may be by the Sheriff ordered to do and
perform, and the deputies of the Sheriff of Montgomery
