CHAPTER 272.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Montgomery County to purchase sites and to build, oper-
ate and maintain store-rooms 011 such sites as may be pur-
chased in any or all of said Election Districts in said county
for the purpose of housing and caring for the road machinery
and equipment of the county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
are hereby authorized and empowered to purchase a site or sites
of land in any or all of the election districts of said county and

erect thereon suitable buildings where the road machinery of all
kind, nature and description may be housed when not in use on
the county roads and it shall be the duty of each road Superin-
tendent or Supervisors to see that such tools, implements or ma-
chinery that has been used in the building or repair of roads
shall be properly housed when not in use. That on the first day
of April and October in each and every year the County Com-
missioners shall be furnished with a list of all the equipment
of the county in each of the said county store-rooms in each dis-
trict by the Supervisor having the same in charge and the Coun-
ty Commissioners shall hold responsible all persons who shall
have the care and custody of any of the tools, implements or
machinery belonging or owned by the county and no person
shall be permitted to remove or use any of said equipment with-
out the written permission first had and obtained from the
Board of County Commissioners and if any person shall fail
to return any of said equipment to the proper store-house such
person upon conviction thereof shall be fined a sum not exceed-
ing one hundred dollars and in default of the immediate pay-
ment of said fine and cost shall be imprisoned in the county
jail for a period not exceeding six months and if any person
shall unlawfully remove any tool, implement or machinery from
any of said store-houses without first having; obtained the writ-
ten permission of the County Commissioners said person shall
upon conviction thereof pay a fine not exceeding five hundred
dollars and in default of the immediate payment of the fine
and cost so imposed shall be sentenced to the county jail for a
period not to exceed one year. That the County Commissioners
are hereby authorized and empowered to erect said store-rooms
at such place and of such dimensions and at such cost as they,
said Commissioners, in their discretion shall deem expedient
and said Commissioners shall pass such rules and regulations
