by the County Commissioners of said Kent County in quar-
terly payments, and in addition thereto there shall be paid to
the said Judges the sum of five cents (5c. ) per mile for each
mile traveled by them in going to and returning from the said
sessions of the Orphans' Court, to be paid by the said County
Commissioners of Kent County upon the certificates of the
Register of Wills for said county; provided, that no Judge of
said Court shall receive in any one year as compensation for
his services and mileage as allowed thereunder a sum exceed-
ing five hundred dollars ($500. 00). Provided, that nothing in
this section shall affect the compensation received by the pres-
ent Judges for the term for which they are now serving.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1922.

CHAPTER 210.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 167C
of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Kent County, " sub-title "Roads, '' as said section was
amended by Chapter 411 of the Acts of 1920, regulating the
salary of the County Road Engineer of Kent County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 167C of Article 15 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Kent County, " sub-title
"Roads, " as said section was amended by Chapter 411 of the
Acts of 1920, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments, to read as follows:
167C. The County Commissioners of Kent County shall
on the first day of June, 1916, or as soon thereafter as pos-
sible, appoint some competent person who shall have a suffi-
cient knowledge of civil engineering; to enable him to accurately
make surveys, plats, profiles and specifications for the grading,
draining, maintenance, repairs and reconstruction of the public
roads of said county, and also to do the necessary engineering
work for the building or rebuilding of bridges, and who shall
have at least three years' experience in road engineering; work,
and who shall be approved as a competent road engineer by
the State Roads Commission of Maryland and the Chief En-
