sion and the continued enjoyment of all its existing cor-
porate rights, privileges and franchises, and to confer
upon said corporation all general powers which are or
may hereafter be conferred on corporations organized
under and subject to the general laws of this state.

Whereas, by an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland,
passed at the December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-
nine, Chapter Three Hundred and Twenty-eight, the Balti-
more Steam Packet Company was incorporated, and it was
provided by Section Twelve thereof, that said Act should
continue in force until the year Eighteen Hundred and Sixty,
and until the end of the next session of the General Assembly
thereafter;

And Whereas, by an Act passed at the January session
Eighteen Hundred and Fifty-six, Chapter fifteen, said Act of
Eighteen Hundred and Thirty-nine, Chapter Three Hundred
and Twenty-eight, was extended and continued in full force
for the period of twenty years from the Tenth day of March,
Eighteen Hundred and Sixty-two, and until the end of the
next session of the General Assembly thereafter;

And Whereas, by an Act passed at the January session, eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-two, Chapter thirty-nine, said Act
of eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, Chapter Three Hundred
and Twenty-eight, as extended and supplemented by said
Act passed at the January session, eighteen hundred and
fifty-six, Chapter Fifteen, was extended and continued in
full force for the period of forty years from the fifteenth
day of March, eighteen hundred and eighty-two and until the
end of the next session of the General Assembly thereafter;

AND WHEREAS, under the terms of said several Acts it is
made to appear that the time limits therein fixed and, particu-
larly, that the time limit provided by said Act of 1882—
Chapter 39, may constitute a limit upon the duration of the
Act in its entirety rather than a mere limitation upon the dura-
tion of the corporation, in such wise that unless extended by
special Act the provision of the general Act of 1908, Chapter
240, repealing statutory limitations upon the duration of then
existing corporations may not be effective to extend charter
and powers of said the Baltimore Steam Packet Company.

AND WHEREAS, it is desirable that the provisions of said
Acts shall be continued in full force and that said Baltimore
