CHAPTER 169.

AN ACT to create a special taxing area or district to be
known as the village of Alta Vista, Montgomery County,
Maryland, and to authorize, empower, and direct the Board
of County Commissioners of Montgomery County to make
special annual levies of seventy-five cents on each one
hundred (100) dollars of the assessable value of the real
and personal property of the said village in Montgomery
County, Maryland, within the boundaries of said village,
for the purpose of opening, improving, widening, main-
taining, repairing, and lighting the streets, roads, lanes,
approaches, alleys, sidewalks, parkings, drainage, sewer-
age, sanitation, and other village improvements, and for
furnishing police and fire protection, clerical and other
public services, including the removal of ashes, garbage,
and other refuse, and the disposal thereof, and for the
enforcement of the requirements of all conveyances of
land, situated in said village, and the promulgation of
building and other regulations; for the reduction of the
amount of said special annual levy; for the selection and
succession of a committee to be known as the Alta Vista
Citizens' Committee, who shall appoint a Treasurer who
shall receive and disburse said funds; also directing the
said Board of County Commissioners to pay over to the
Treasurer of said village for disbursement for any of the
aforesaid purposes and money collected on account of the
County road tax in the same amount and manner now
required by law to be paid to incorporated towns in
said county; also empowering the said Citizens' Com-
mittee, subject to the approval of the said Board of County
Commissioners, to assess the cost of certain special im-
provements against the property abutting on streets, roads,
lanes, and sidewalks; the collection of such assessments
and disbursement thereof for the benefit of the residents
of said village; also for petitioning of the resident
property owners for the said special improvements, and
for hearing of interested parties thereon; and to em-
power the Citizens' Committee to borrow money and
contract indebtedness.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purposes of this Act the village of Alta
Vista, Montgomery County, Maryland, as hereinafter described,
