the counties of the Eastern Shore and one member at large
shall be appointed for a term of two years; three members
from the counties on the Eastern Shore and one member at
large shall be appointed for a term of four years; and three
members from the counties on the Eastern Shore and one
member at large shall be appointed for a term of six years;
and likewise of the nine members from the counties on the
Eastern Shore of Maryland and three members at large, first
elected by the alumni of Washington College under the pro-
vision of this amendment to the charter of Washington Col-
lege, three members from the counties on the Eastern Shore
and one member at large shall be elected for a term of two
years; three members from the counties on the Eastern Shore
and one member at large shall be elected for a term of four
years; three members from the counties on the Eastern Shore
and one member at large shall be elected for a term of six
years; their successors in each case thereafter to be appointed
or elected, as the case may be, for a term of six years, so that
each two years four members shall be appointed and four
members elected to said office for a term of six years each.

The counties from which the members for the different terms
of office shall be appointed and elected shall be selected by
lot by the Governor and the officers of the Alumni Association
of Washington College having in charge the said election.

When seven or more of the members of the new Visitors and
Governors of Washington College created by this amendment
shall have been elected by the alumni of said college as hereto-
fore provided and shall have qualified, and seven or more of
the members of said office shall have been appointed by the
Governor as heretofore provided and shall have qualified, the
term of office of the present members composing said office
shall automatically cease and be determined, and these mem-
bers appointed and elected as heretofore provided shall be and
constitute the Visitors and Governors of Washington College.

Within thirty days after occurrence of a vacancy of said
members of visitors and governors, by death, resignation, re-
moval, disqualification or expiration of the term of office of
a member, a notice thereof shall be sent by said visitors and
governors to the Governor or the Alumni Association, depend-
ing upon whether said vacancy is to be filled by the appoint-
ment of the Governor or the election of the alumni, and should
the Governor or the alumni fail to appoint or elect, as the
case may be, a successor to fill said vacancy within six months
