1584 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

co-operate with the agencies of the United States Government
in the administration of the provisions of the aforesaid Act of
Congress, and be it further

Resolved, That the Treasurer of the State of Maryland be,
and he is hereby authorized to receive from the Treasury of
the United States all funds which may be granted or appor-
tioned to the State of Maryland, and that the said Treasurer of
the State of Maryland is hereby authorized and directed to
pay over such funds to the said State Department of Health,
to be expended in accordance with the terms of the aforesaid
Act of Congress.

Joint Resolution for the conservation of crabs in the Chesa-
peake Bay and its tributaries.

WHEREAS, The crabbing industry of Chesapeake Bay, Mary-
land, and its tributaries has been on the wane for several
years; and

WHEREAS, The business interests and people engaged in the
crabbing industry in this State are suffering by the decrease
in the supply of crabs, and upon investigation made by the
IT. S. Bureau of Fisheries it was found that the decrease was
due to the dredging of the female crabs pregnant with eggs
from November 1st to May 1st in Virginia waters and the
destruction of the egg-bearing female crabs in Virginia dur-
ing the spring and summer months; and

WHEREAS, At a meeting held in Washington, at the office
of the Secretary of Commerce on July 13th, 1921, at which
meeting the Commissioner of Fisheries of Virginia and the
Conservation Commission of Maryland were present, and the
said Commissioners pledged concurrent legislation for the pro-
tection of the egg-bearing female crabs at all times in the
waters of the entire Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, and
limitation on the dredging season in Virginia waters, which
agreement was approved by the United States Bureau of Fish-
eries, and had the approval of both the Governor of Maryland
and the Governor of Virginia; and
