roads except the State roads, and said commissioner shall have
charge of all bridges in the county, except those on the State
roads, and whenever any bridges are to be built or repaired at
a cost exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00) it shall be the
duty of the said commissioner to advertise the same and let
the same to the lowest responsible bidder, to be built according
to plans and specifications to be furnished by the said com-
missioner, and the County Commissioners shall levy, upon the
written order of the road commissioner, at the next annual levy
after the receipt of the order, for the use of the contractor or
contractors, such sums of money as may be required for the
building or repairing of the said bridges as hereinabove stated,
but no amount so levied shall be paid to any contractor until
the road commissioner has accepted his work, and in case no
proper or reasonable bid shall be received, the road commis-
sioner shall proceed to have the same done under his super-
vision.

SEC. Y. And be it further enacted, That all amounts de-
voted to the road fund of. Calvert County by special legislation
shall be paid over to the road commissioner to be used for the
building and repair of the said public roads as contemplated
by this Act, and to be deposited by him in bank to the credit
of the road fund, subject to his order.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners of Calvert County at their annual meeting for the
levying of the county taxes are hereby authorized to levy upon
the assessable basis of the county a sum of money for the build-
ing and keeping in repair the public roads in Calvert County
for one year, not, however, less than six thousand ($6,000)
dollars, and the said road commissioner shall keep an account
showing the number, date and amount and to whom payable
of each order drawn by him on the treasurer of the county,
and all orders so drawn by him shall be paid by the treasurer
when presented out of any money he may have in hand for
the purpose, not exceeding, however, the amount levied for
road purposes.

SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That whenever any num-
ber of taxpayers desire any special road built or repaired and
will make application to the road commissioner of Calvert
County for same and tender a certain sum of money or secur-
ity for the same to the said road commissioner, then the said
road commissioner is hereby authorized to provide for an equal
