CHAPTER 532.

AN ACT to provide for the repair of public roads in Calvert
County, to create a road commissioner for said county, to
prescribe his duties and powers, and to repeal Chapter 322
of the Acts of 1920, relating to public roads in Calvert
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That on or before the second Monday in April, 1922,
and on or before the second Monday in April of each and
every year thereafter, the County Commissioners of Calvert
County shall appoint one road commissioner for Calvert Coun-
ty, who shall receive an annual salary of four hundred ($400)
dollars, and who shall serve for the period of two years from
the date of his appointment and until his successor is ap-
pointed, as herein provided, and in case of a vacancy occur-
ring at any time during the existence of this law, it shall be
filled by the County Commissioners of Calvert County. The
said road commissioner shall appoint one supervisor for each
of the three election districts of said county, as said districts
existed prior to the year 1920.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That each of said super-
visors shall receive the sum of two dollars and fifty cents
($2.50) per day of each working day consisting of ten hours
each, and shall engage such labor as he may deem necessary
and at such compensation or wages as he may agree upon,
with the approval of the road commissioner of said county.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all work done on
said roads shall be, so far as practicable, done with team or
power; the price of said team or other power shall be fixed by
the supervisor with the approval of the said road commissioner.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That said supervisor
shall keep an accurate account of all work done on the roads,
time each person works, and material used, and make affidavit
before a justice of the peace to the correctness of his account
to the road commissioner.

SEC. i5. And be it further enacted, That the road commis-
sioner shall pay the bills as presented on the second Tuesday
of each month, provided the said bills are not disputed or found
to be incorrect.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the said road com-
missioner shall have charge and control over all of the public
