XCV.

may demand, and shall be entitled to receive, the further sum of twelve and a half cents, money of
the United States, for every month thereafter.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the justices of the levy court of Baltimore county, or a majority
of them, shall, when the said warehouses shall be erected and finished, and ready for the reception
and inspection of tobacco, nominate and recommend, in writing, to the governor and council, two, or
if requested by the proprietor or proprietors of the said warehouses, four persons, of whom the go-
vernor, with the advice and consent of the council, is authorised and required to appoint and com-
mission one person out of the two for each warehouse, or two persons out of the four, to be the in-
spector or inspectors of tbe said warehouses, in the manner directed by the act, entitled, An act to
regulate the inspection of tobacco, passed at November session, eighteen hundred and one.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said warehouses, (when erected,) shall be in all respecls un-
der the same regulations as other public warehouses for inspection of tobacco in this state are by
law, except where it is otherwise provided by this act; and the inspector or inspectors of the
said warehouses, (when appointed,) shall qualify and give bond, and be subject in every respect, to
the regulations established by the said act, entitled, An act to regulate the inspection of tobacco, as
if the said warehouses had been established by the said act, except where it is otherwise provided
by this act.

Inspectors to
account quar-
terly, &c.

V. AND BE IT ENACTED, That every inspector, appointed and acting as such at the said ware-
houses, shall account quarterly, (or oftener if required,) with the proprietor or proprietors of the
said warehouses, for all money by him received for the inspection of tobacco, and shall pay the same
quarterly, and if required, shall give bond, with security, to such proprietor or proprietors, to ac-
count and pay as by this act is required.

CHAP. XCVI.

Passed 7th of
January, 1804

An ACT to encourage the destruction of crows in the several coun-
ties therein mentioned.

Persons to be

allowed, &c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That if any person residing in Kent, Anne-
Arundel, Saint-Mary's, Caecil, Baltimore, Montgomery, Charles, Prince-George's or Somer-
set counties, shall bring to any justice of the peace of the county in which such person shall reside,
the head or heads of any crow or crows, such person shall, for every such head, be allowed, in the
county levy of the said county, the sum of ten cents, and the justices of the peace before whom
such head or heads shall be brought, is hereby required to give the person bringing the same a cer-
tificate thereof, and cause the said head or heads to be burnt, or otherwise destroyed.

Proviso,

II. PROVIDED NEVERTHELESS, AND BE IT ENACTED, That no person whatsoever shall be entitled
for any allowance for any such head or heads, without first making oath, or affirmation, as the case
may be, that such crow or crows was or were killed in the county where such certificate is applied
for, and that no certificate hath been obtained from any other justice of the peace for the same; and
that it shall be the duty of each and every justice of the peace before whom such head or heads may be
brought by virtue of this or any other act now existing for the destruction of crows, to take arid receive
the oath or affirmation of the party bringing the same, free and clear from all charges against the per-
son or persons making such oath, or affirmation, any thing to the contrary in any law notwithstanding.

Acts repealed.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all acts relative to the destruction of crows in the several coun-
ties herein mentioned heretofore passed, be and the same are hereby repealed.

Duration.

IV. This act to continue and be in force until the first day of January, eighteen hundred and six,

An ACT for the benefit of Arthur Thompson, of Saint-Mary's
county.

Justices to levy
money, &c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the justices of the levy court of Saint-
Mary's county be and they are hereby empowered and direcled, at their next meeting for the
purpose of laying the county levy, to assess and levy on the assessable property of the said county,
a sum of money, which, in their judgment, may be equal to che value of a mare, which Arthur
Thompson, of said county, lost, in consequence of his being engaged under a summons from the con-
stable in carrying to gaol a slave, tbe property of James McWilliams of said county, which said sum
