861 Command was given to the sheerif of Kent County y.e Tenth day of September Anno Dom 1697 to take George Hope if he should be found in his Bailiwick and him safe Keepe soe that he have his Body before his Maj.ties Justices att the next Court to Answer unto John Salter of a plea that he render unto him 1840.ll Tob w.ch &c.a Att which Court viz the 28.th day of September the day of returne of sd Writt came Capt Edward Sweatnam high sheerif of said County and made returne of sd Writt in these words Cepi Edw Sweatnam sheft On which sd day the sd defend.t Michael Earle his Attorney comes and appeares and prayes therof to Imparle until the next Court But the sd Plt by his said Attorney moves this Court that the sd defend.t may put in Especial Bail w.ch being argued and considered it is Therfore ordered that the sd Defend.t George Hope doe find Especial Baile to the sd Accon S Wilmer Clk And the sd George Hope comes into Court w.th John Blackiston his Baile who promiseth that y.e sd defd that pay condemnation if cast or he will doe it for him and the sd Defend.t by his sd Att.ry prayes therof to Imparle until next Court w.ch was granted the same day is given to the plt allsoe Which said Cause being continued from Court to Court until this day and Now standing for Tryal the sd plt by his sd Attorney declares as followeth Kent fs George Hope als dict George Hope of sd County Sayer was summnd= ned to answer unto John Palter of a plea that he render unto him the full and just sume or quantitie of One Thousand Eight Hundred and fforty pounds of good sound every way well condiconed leaf Tobaccoe & Cask or the value therof in Inch planck att Three hundred p Thousand wch to him he oweth & from him he unjustly detaineth |
