740 Grand Jury are called and are by this Court desired to signe the papers sent by the Govern.r Relating to a Peticon for the longer stay of the Flest as allsoe y.t Relating to Pennsilvania Entertaining serv.ts and Privateers Ordered by this Court that a Roade be cleared from M.r Thomas Joces Fence to the head of the Read Root branch and that Rob.t Pearkes Plantacon be within the limits of the same Command was given to the sheerif of Kent County y.e 28.th day of Jan.ry Anno Dom 1696 that he Attach any the Goods Chattels &c.a of Patrick Gormack if they should be found in his Bailiwick to the value of Four hundred Seaventy and Four poundes of Tobaccoe and Fifty and Five shillings sterl to satisfie unto Michael Miller a certain debt and cost Recovered ag.t him the sd Patrick the 27.th day of June Anno Dom 1694 by the said Michael and that by good and Lawfull men &c.a he make Knowne &c.a in whose hands &c.a soe that he she or they be before his his Maj.ties Justices att the Next Court &c.a Att which Court viz the 23.th day of March Anno Dom 1696 the day of Returne of the sd Writt came Capt Edward Sweatnam high sheerif of sd County and made Returne of the said Writt in these Wordes viz I Attached in the hands of W.m Bateman of the goods and Chattels of the within Named Patrick Gormack as well the within menconed sume of Tobaccoe as allsoe the sume of money sterl therin specified as by this Writt I am Commanded and have made Knowne unto the sd W.m Bateman that he be and appeare before his Maj.ties Justices att y.e Next Court to shew cause &c.a before Ferdinando Ford and John Lewis Two Lawfull men of my Bailiwick Edw Sweatnam sheft And now here att this day the said Matter standing for Tryal and the said W.m Bateman Neither by himselfe nor by his Att.ry makeing any reasonable defence why the same should not be condemned for satisfaction aforesd Therfore it is Considered by this Court that the said Four hundred Seaventy and Four poundes of Tobaccoe as allsoe the said Fifty and Five shillings sterl Attached in the hands of William Bateman as aforesd be condemned for satisfaction of the sd Michael Miller as allsoe the sume Simon Wilmer Clk |
