Command was Given to the sheerif of Kent County the 26.th
day of November Anno Dom 1696 that he take William
North if he should be found in his Bailiwick and him
safe keepe soe that he have his Body before his Maj.ties
Justices att the Next Court to be held for said County to
answer unto Jonas Greenwood of a plea of Debt &c.a

Att which Court viz the 26.th day of January Anno Dom
1696 the day of returne of the said Writt came Capt Edw
Sweatnam high sheerif of said County and made returne
of the said Writt in these Words viz Cepi Corpus Edw Sweatnam

Planter was summoned to Answer unto Jonas Greenwood of
a plea of Debt

And wherupon the said Jones by W.m Hemsley his Att.ry saith
that wheras the said Jonas on the 15.th day of July Anno Dom
1698 was an Attorney sworne and admitted in this Court to
practice as an Attorney and he said Jonas being admitted &
Authorised so as aforesaid he the said Wm North viz on the
same day and Yeare in consideracon and att the Especial Instance
and request of him the said William North that if he the said
Jonas Would be his Att.ry in said Court and sue and implead
Michael Miller of sd County Gent in Three several Accons in
said Court that then he the said William North would not ondly
pay his Fees due but allsoe ^discharge &^ to the said Jonas all such other
officers Fees as by the same Three Accons shall cause to become
due And the said Jonas in fact saith that he trusting to the
promise and Assumption aforesaid did prosecute the said Michael
Miller in said Court in Three several Accons and did pay Offic.rs
Fees for the same which Officers Fees did amount to the
sume of Eighty four poundes of Tobaccoe soe that the Fees
accrueing to the said Jonas in the said Three Accons Three
hundred poundes of Tobaccoe which in all amounts to the sume
of Three hundred Eighty and four poundes of Tobaccoe Yett
Notwithstanding the sd Wm North his promise and assumption
litle regarding but plotting contriveing and fraudulently
intending him the said Jonas in this behalfe craftily and
subtilly to deceive and defraud the said sume of 384.ll of Tob
