Two Thowsand poundes of Tobaccoe of the proper goods
and Chattels of the said Dennis which from him he ujustly
detenieth &c.a

Att which said Court viz the 21.th day of January Annoq
dom 1695 the day of returne of the Writt aforesd came
James Smith Gent high sheerif of the County aforesd and
returned his said Writt in these words Following viz Capi Corpus

Samuel Tailor of Talbot County Carpenter
was summoned to Answer to Dennis Council
            of a Plea wherfore one horse of the proper goods and
            Chattels of him the said Dennis of the value of Two Thowsand
            poundes of Tobaccoe the sd horse being of a bright
            bay Colour a switch tail and a smale star in the forhead
            which from him he unjustly deteines

And wherupon the sd Dennis by William Hemsley his Attorney
saith that whereas the said Dennis on the 20.th day of May Annoq
Domini 1694 att Chester River in said County within the Jurisdicon
of this Court was possessed as of his owne proper goods and Chattels
of one bright bay Coloured horse with a Switch Tail and a smale
starr in his forehead of the value of Two Thowsand poundes of
Tobaccoe which afterwards viz on the Tenth day of June Annoq
Dom 1694 att the place aforesaid the said Samuel the said horse
out of the hands and possession of the sd Dennis he took Yett
Notwithstanding the said Samuel the said horse to the said
Dennis he hath not redelivered alltho often demanded out
the same to deliver he hath denied and as Yett doth denie &
unjustly deteine whereupon he saith that he is damnified
and hath damage to the value of four Thowsand poundes of
Tobaccoe and therupon he brings this suit

And the said Samuel Tailor by Robert Gouldsborough his
Attorney comes and defends the force and injury when &c.a And
prayeth libertie therof to Imparle here until the next Court w.ch
was granted him the same day is give the plt likewise
which said cause stood continued from Court to Court from
the 21.th day of January Annoq Dom 1695 until the
Third Tuesday in August Annoq Dom 1696
