548 William Smith becomes bound unto our Soveraigne Lord King William the Third in the sume of Tenn poundes sterl mony of England to be Leavied of his Lands and Tenem.ts goods and Chattels provided Sarah his Wife doe not make her personal Appearance att this next Court and in the meane time be of good Abearance to all his Maj.ties good people to which he gave his consent This Court bindes Richard Keene to John Cogdel of Kent Island untill he arrive to the Age of One & Twenty Yeares And the said John Cogdel doth obliege himselfe to use his uttmost endeavor to Learne him y.e sd Keene the Trade of a Cooper and to find him Necessary meat drink lodging and clothes dureing the time of his servitude
Kent fs Cornelius Comegys of the County aforesaid Gent stands Attached to Answer unto Edward Batthurst in a plea of Trespasse upon the case Whereupon the sd Edward by C Baste his Attorny complaineth and saith that the sd Cornelius for sundry goods Wares and Merchandize to him sould and delivered or p a petition accompt in Court produced bearing date the 30.th day of March Anno 1694 may appeare stands Justly indebted to him in the full and Just sume sett One Thousand One hundred Forty and One poundes of Tobaccoe In consideracon wherof the sd Cornelius did Faithfully promise and upon himselfe did Assume the aforesd sume to pay and satisfie when he should be therunto required Neverthelesse the said Cornelius his faithful promise and assumption not regarding the aforesaid sume of 1141.ll Tob alltho often therunto required hath not paid but the same hath hitherto denied and still doth deny and refuse wherupon the said Edward saith he is damnified 2282.ll Tob & therupon he bringeth his suit Baste pro Quet |
