494 This Court orders Lewis Meridith to Continue in Keeping The Ferry from Kent Island to Yarmouth Towne for the benefitt of the inhabitants of This Countie according to the usuall Custom here to fore Simon Wilmer Clk S.r Thomas Laurence Barn.t their Maj.ties ^secretary^ of the Province of Maryland To Simon Wilmer of Kent Countie in the Province of Maryland Know you that for the Especial trust and Confidence do have and doe repoce in Your Knowledg fidelitie care and circumspection I have ordained constituted and appointed and by these p.rsents doe ordaine constitute and appoint You the said Simon Wilmer to be Clerk and Keeper of the Records of the Countie of Kent to hold and enjoy the said place and Offere for and dureing the Tearme of One whole Yeare ending from the date of these p.rsents hereby willing and requireing you to aske demand receive and take into youre Custodie all Records Transcripts precepts papers and Enrolements whatsoever unto the said Countie belonging or in anywise appertaining and the same be secured and preforme to the best of your Power and farther I doe hereby Authorize and impower you to act do & performe the Office of Clerk and Keeper of the Records of the said Countie, as fully, and amply, as any Clerk of a Countie Court in this Province, may or ought to doe saveing and reserving to my selfe the full tenth part of all and singuler these perquisitts and profitts of wright to the said place and office belonging or in anywise accrueing or appertaining and the other Nine parts to take have hold and Enjoy to your owne proper use and behoofe soe long as you shall continue in the said Office Given att S.t Mary the 19.th day of October under my hand and seale Anno Dom 1694 Thomas Laurence Clk |
