lett Smith, of Baltimore county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Chapman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Young Wilkinson, of the city of Annapolis, report,
that they have considered the same, and find, from sufficient testimony, that the petitioner was a lieutenant in
the artillery of the Maryland line during the revolutionary war, which character he sustained with honour to
himself and advantage to his country; that he is now sixty-four years of age, and labouring under the infirmi-
ties of his advanced period of life, without any other means of support than his bodily exertions, which arc too
feeble to be relied on even for those things indispensable to his existence. Your committee, believing it should
be the peculiar care of the legislature to provide for those who have claims on their patronage, so well founded
as the petitioner's, recommend the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and directed to pay unto
Young Wilkinson, of the city of Annapolis, late a lieutenant of the artillery in the Maryland line during the
revolutionary war, annually, in quarterly payments, a sum of money equal to the half pay of a lieutenant of the
artillery aforesaid.
All which is submitted.

By order, S. LOWDERMILK, clk.

in Somerset county, were read the second time, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.
