VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807. 87

The bill authorising Nathaniel Oldham, Absalom Oldham and James Cockran, to complete their collection,
Was read the second tune, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Shriver, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising a lottery to raise
a sum of money to purchase a fire engine, and finish the church in Westminster-town, in Frederick county,
which was read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

ORDERED, That the bill to pay the civil list, and other expenses of civil government, have a second reading
on to-morrow.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill authorising and empowering the levy court of Prince-George's coun
ty to assess and levy a sum of money for the support and maintenance of Thomas Gentel, the bill authorising a
lottery for raising a sum of money for building a church in Charles county, and the bill for the benefit of Cathe-
rine Johnson, severally endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. The resolution relative to the road
from Hancock to Cumberland, endorsed, " assented to. " And the resolutions in favour of George Plummer
Hinckle and Thomas Deye Cockey, and others, severally endorsed, "dissented from. "

The bill annulling the marriage of Joseph Boyd, and Elizabeth his wife, was read the second time, and the
question put, Shall the said bill pass? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

TUESDAY, January 5, 1808.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The bill annulling the marriage of Joseph Boyd, and Elizabeth his wife, was sent to the senate by the clerk;

A memorial from the president and managers of the Charitable Marine Society of Baltimore, praying they
may have the exclusive right of administering on the estates of deceased seamen, was preferred, read, and re-
ferred to Mr. Steuart, Mr. Little and Mr. T. Dorsey, to consider and report thereon.

ORDERED, That the bill authorising the Baltimore and Frederick-town turnpike company to erect a toll-bridge
over the Monocacy river, have a second reading on Friday next.

ORDERED, That the, bill to authorise the sale of the right of Baltimore county to part of a lot of ground in
the city of Baltimore, have a second reading on Saturday next.

The bill to confirm a certain, road therein mentioned, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the se-
nate by the clerk.

Mr. G. D. Hodges, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to authorise the levy
court of Anne-Arundel county to assess and levy a sum of money for the purposes therein mentioned; which
was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The following resolutions were read.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto John Trueman, late a revolutionary soldier, and
door-keeper to the house of delegates, the sura of one hundred and fifty dollars, out of any unappropriated mo
nies in the treasury.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto Rachel Roberts, widow of Edward Roberts, late
door-keeper of the senate, and an old veteran soldier, the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, out of any un
appropriated monies in the treasury.

The house, according to the order of the day, proceeded to the second reading of the bill to pay the civil list,
and other expenses of civil government, and on progression, the question was put. That the blank therein as-
certaining the printer's salary be filled, up with the words " fourteen hundred dollars ?" Resolved in the affirma
tive.

The question was then put, That the blank ascertaining the salary to the messenger of the council be filled up
with the words " five hundred dollars ?" Determined in the negative.

The question was then put on four hundred dollars. " Resolved in the affirmative.

The bill being read throughout, the question was put, Shall the said bill pass? Resolved in the affirmative.
Which was sent to the senate by the clerk.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill for the relief of Notley Maddox, sheriff of Prince-George's county,
the further supplement to the act authorising Thomas Bailey, late sheriff and collector of Baltimore county, to
complete his collection, and for other purposes, the further supplement to an act, entitled, An act to alter the
mode; of collecting the county tax in Harford county, and the bill to confirm a certain road in Baltimore county,
