76 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807.

Howard, deceased, of the city of Baltimore, or to their order the sum of seventy pounds sixteen shillings and
six-pence, of bills of credit emitted in June, seventeen hundred and eighty, being the same money heretofore
deposited in the treasury on account of John and Gilbert Buchanan, merchants, of London, upon the said Joseph
Howard, Brice Howard and George Howard, giving bond, with security, to the state, to be approved by the
said treasurer, to refund the aforesaid sum of seventy pounds sixteen shillings and six pence, and interest, agree-
ably to the tenor of said bill of credit, in case a certificate shall at any time hereafter be produced to the trea-
surer which issued from the treasury of the western shore, acknowledging, that on the twenty-seventh day of
June, seventeen hundred and eighty, one Brice Howard paid into the treasury, for Joseph Howard and Company,
the sura of two thousand eight hundred and thirty-three pounds six shillings and eight-pence, by virtue of an act
of assembly of this state, passed at October session, seventeen hundred and eighty, entitled, An act for calling
out of circulation the quota of this state of the bills of credit issued by congress, and the bills of credit emitted
by acts of assembly under, the old government, and by the resolves of convention.

Which was read.

The bill to build a bridge. and open a road in Caroline county, was read the second time, passed, and sent to
the senate by the clerk.

The bill for the benefit of Elisha Hopkins, of Anne-Arundel county, was read the second time, and, on mo-
tion, the question was put, That the same be recommitted for amendment? Resolved in the affirmative.

The bill to change the place of holding the election in the first election district of Baltimore county, was read
the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from Philip Chapline, of Kent county, praying to be allowed the depreciation on his pay as a sol-
dier, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Sudler, Mr. Winder and Mr. Gale, of Somerset, to consider
and report thereon.

ORDERED, That the further consideration of the bill to regulate and discipline the militia of this state, be
postponed until Tuesday the 29th instant.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill for recording certain wills in the register's office of Worcester coun-
ty, the supplement to the act, entitled, An act authorising the drawing of a lottery to defray the expense of
building a masonic hall in the city of Baltimore, and the bill authorising and directing the sales of certain lands,
lying in Worcester county, and belonging to William Fleming, deceased, severally endorsed, " will pass. " Or-
dered to be engrossed. The bill to incorporate a fire. insurance company in the city of Baltimore, endorsed,
will pass with the proposed amendments" which amendments were lead the first and second time by especial
order, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed. The resolution in favour of John Wilkins, endorsed,
. assented to. " Also the following message:

By the SENATE, December 23, 1807.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates,

WE have received the bill authorising Benjamin Ray, late sheriff and collector of Montgomery county, to
complete his collection, accompanied with a message, requesting us to recede from the second and third amend-
ments proposed by the senate, to. which, upon reconsideration, the senate cannot agree, but determine to ad-
here to their amendments.

By order, T. ROGERS, clk.

Which was read.

And the bill authorising Benjamin Ray, late sheriff and collector of Montgomery county, to complete his col-
lection, endorsed, "will pass with the proposed amendments; " which amendments were read the first and se-
cond time by especial order, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.

The bill to encourage the destruction of crows in the several counties. therein mentioned, was read the second
time and passed.

The following order was read.

ORDERED, That the house of delegates adjourn on this day until Monday next.

And the question put, That the house agree to the same? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:
