So it was resolved in the affirmative.

On further progression, the question was put, That the following be inserted in the third clause, after the
word "bugler?" viz. " and that to each division there shall "be one major-general and aid de-camps with the.
rank of major, to each brigade one brigadier-general, with one brigade inspector, to serve also as a brigade ma-
jor, with the rank of a major, to each regiment one lieutenant-colonel commandant, and to each battalion one
major, to each company one captain, one lieutenant, one ensign, and noncommissioned officers as above directed;
that there shall be a regimental staff, to consist of one adjutant and one quartermaster, to rank as lieutenants,
one paymaster, one surgeon and one surgeon's mate, one sergeant-major, one drum-major, and one fife-major. "
Determined in the negative.

On motion, That the following words be stricken out of the fourth clause? viz. " and each noncommissioned
officer and private enrolled, notified thereof, and liable to militia duty as aforesaid, shall, within twelve month
thereafter, arm and equip himself in the manner directed by the said act of congress, under the penalty of a sum
not exceeding five dollars, nor less than one dollar, at the discretion of a company court-martial, and of a fur-
ther sum of three dollars for every year he shall continue such neglect to arm and equip himself as aforesaid,
except such noncommissioned officers and privates as shall be adjudged by a company court-martial to be too in-
digent to bear the expense of such-armament and equipment; ". the question was put, That the house adjourn?
Determined in the negative.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The bill for the preservation of the breed of wild deer in Somerset, county, and the resolutions in favour of
Rinaldo Johnson, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

ORDERED, That the bill to confirm the will of Mary Davidson, be withdrawn.

Mr. Ayres, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill entitled, An act to confirm and make public
a certain road therein mentioned; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

ORDERED, That the same be printed, and have a second reading on the first day of January next.

Mr. M. Brown has leave of absence.

Mr. T. Dorsey, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to incorporate the contri-
butors to the Baltimore general dispensary; which was read the first lime and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Blakistone, from the. committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the benefit and relief
of John Hebb, of Saint-Mary's county; which was read the first and second time by especial order and passed.

Mr. Steuart, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to release to Richard Trim-
ble the right of the state of Maryland to the property therein mentioned; which was read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table.

Mr. T. Dorsey, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Joseph Howard, administrator de bonis non of Joseph
Howard, deceased, Brice Howard, executor of Thomas Cornelius Howard, deceased, of Anne-Arundel county,
George Howard, administrator de bonis non of Brice Howard, deceased, of the city of Baltimore, report, that
they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that the prayer thereof is reasonable, and ought
to be granted; they therefore submit the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and required to pay to
Joseph Howard, administrator de bonis non of Joseph Howard, deceased, Brice Howard, executor of Thomas
Cornelius Howard, deceased, of Anne-Arundel county, and George Howard, administrator de bonis non of Brice
