44 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807.

ORDERED, That the further additional supplementary act to the act, entitled, An act for quieting possessions,
enrolling conveyances, and securing the estates of purchasers, have a second reading on Wednesday the 9th in-
stant.

Mr. Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Thomas Dye Cockey and Joshua Frederick Cockey,
executors of Thomas Cockey Dye, deceased, of Baltimore county, praying the legislature to pass a resolution
directing the auditor to state his account, and the treasurer to pay whatever may be found to be the amount of
the surplus interest therein stated, and the interest received thereon by the state, have examined the same, and
find the facts as stated to be true, and are of opinion that the prayer of the petitioners ought to be granted;
therefore submit to the house the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the auditor-general be and he is hereby authorised and directed to examine and liquidate the
claim of the petitioners, and ascertain the amount of interest due them, if any, on certain final settlement cer-
tificates, prior to the first day of January, seventeen hundred and eighty-five, paid by the said Thomas Cockey
Dye, of whom the petitioners are executors, to the trustees appointed to sell the land of Archibald Buchanan,
and also the amount of interest received by this state of the United States, on account of surplus interest paid
by the said Thomas Cockey Dye to certain trustees appointed to sell the lands of the said Archibald Buchanan,
and by them paid into the treasury; and that the said auditor-general, report.. said liquidation of accounts to this
general assembly as soon as convenient.

All which is submitted.

Which was read.

The house, according to the order of the day, proceeded to the second reading of the bill to establish a chan-
cery court on the eastern shore of this state, and to repeal such parts of the constitution and form of govern-
ment as may be incompatible with the same, and, on progression, the question was put. That the further con-
sideration of the same be postponed until Thursday the 10th instant? Resolved in the affirmative.

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act to establish a bank, and incorporate the subscribers thereto, was
read the second time, and the question put, Shall the said bill pass? The yeas and nays being required, appeared

FRIDAY, December 4. 1807.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Grahame appears in the house.

The supplement to an act, entitled, An act to establish a bank, and incorporate the subscribers thereto, was
sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. O. Williams, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the bill, entitled, An additional supplement to the
act, entitled, An act to ascertain the allowance to jurymen and witnesses to the general court, and the several coun-
ty and orphans courts in this state, as amended; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The clerk of the senate delivers the supplement to an act to appoint and authorise commissioners to review
and lay out a part of the road therein mentioned in Harford county, endorsed, "will pass with the proposed
amendments; " which amendments were read the first and second time by especial order, agreed to, and the bill
ordered to be engrossed. And the further supplement to the act, entitled, An act to regulate elections, endorsed,
"will pass with the proposed amendment; "'which amendment Was read the first and second time by especial
order, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.

ORDERED, That the bill for the enlargement of the city of Baltimore, in Baltimore county, be recommitted
for amendment.

A petition from Evans Willing, of Somerset county, praying the treasurer of the eastern shore may be di-
rected to pay him for a negro man who was drowned in Pocomoke river while pursued as a runaway, was pre-
ferred, read, and referred to Mr. Winder, Mr. Gale, of Somerset, and Mr. Jackson, to consider and report
thereon.
