ORDERED, That the bill to lay out and make public a road in Baltimore county, be recommitted for amend-
ment.

The report on the petition of William Ferguson was read the second time, and the question put, That the
house concur therewith, and assent to the resolution therein contained? The yeas and nays being required, ap-
peared as follow:

So it was determined in the negative.

Mr. Merriken, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Thomas Stinchicomb, of Anne-Arundel county, re-
port, that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that the facts therein set forth arc
not sufficient to induce this house to grant the prayer thereof, and that the-said-Thomas Stinchicomb have leave
to withdraw his petition. All which is submitted.

By order, W. DIXON, clk.
Which was read the first and second time by especial order and concurred with.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act for the purchase of a library for the use of the
legislature. ORDERED, That Mr. J. E. Spencer, Mr, Shaaff, Mr. Tabbs, Mr. Stone and Mr. C. Dorsey, be a
committee to prepare and bring in the same.

A petition from Gassaway Watkins, of Anne-Arundel county, stating that he was an officer in the American
army, and is rendered unable to maintain his family by active industry, and praying some assistance, was pre-
ferred, read,. and referred to Mr. C. D Hodges, Mr. Bruce and Mr Winder, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Rinaldo Johnson, on behalf of the securities of Thomas Williams, late collector of the tax
in Prince-George's county, praying to be refunded for poundage fees, and interest thereon, overpaid by them as
securities aforesaid, was preferred,. read, and referred to Mr. Hall, Mr. B. Hodges and Mr. Page, to consider
and report thereon.

A petition from Elisha Hopkins, of Anne-Arundel county, praying to be reimbursed for taxes overpaid by him,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. O. Williams, Mr. Merriken and Mr. Belt, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, the question was put, That leave be given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act,
entitled, An act to establish a bank, and incorporate the subscribers thereto? The yeas and nays being required,
appeared as follow:

Mr. Carroll, from the committee, delivery to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Henry
Hawkins Young, of Montgomery county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from Margaretta Chalmers and Alexander J. Chalmers, her son, of Kent county, stating, that the
property of James Chalmers has been confiscated and sold, except 300 acres reserved for the use of the said
Margaretta, wife to the said James Chalmers, and that the said Margaretta hath ever since been in quiet pos-
session of the same, and praying that the title to said three hundred acres may be vested in the said Margaretta
Chalmers, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Gale, of Kent,. Mr. Jackson, Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Brice and
Mr. Sudler, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Hawkins, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Mary
Gwinn, of Frederick county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. J. E. Spencer, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to make valid a deed
from Isaac Dixon to John Dashiell for part of a tract of land called Dixon's Green; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Bayard, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to erect a new bridge over
Great Choptank river, in Caroline county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
