have reason to believe, are lost, destroyed, or removed without the power and control of the executive of this
state, and that should occasion require the concentration of the militia for actual service, your committee think
it probable that not more than four thousand of the said muskets could be collected for their armament, many of
which, for want of repairs, would. be unfit for service. Thai the report of the armourer in the city of Anna-
polis states, that there arc in his possession three brass and fourteen iron field-pieces, of different weight of me-
tal, and also seventeen one pounders, all of which are destitute of carriages, except the three brass guns.
Your committee, viewing with alarm and concern the defenceless and unarmed situation of the state, beg
leave to submit to the consideration of this honourable house the following resolutions:
RESOLVED, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised and required to purchase ——
thousand muskets, and the accoutrements necessary to the equipment of the same number of musketeers, ———
of which said muskets, and the necessary accoutrements, shall be by them delivered to the field-officers of each
regiment in this state, to be by them distributed to such persons in the several companies composing said regi-
ment, as shall by the said field-officers, and commissioned officers of the respective companies, be adjudged too
indigent to purchase at their own expense a musket and such necessary accoutrements, the expense whereof
the treasurer of the western shore is hereby directed to defray out of any unappropriated money in the trea-
sury.
RESOLVED, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised and required to purchase ——
thousand rifles, and the accoutrements necessary to the equipment of the same number of riflemen, -—— of
which said rifles, and the necessary accoutrements, shall be by them delivered to the field-officers of each regi-
ment in this state, to be by them distributed to such persons in the several companies of riflemen, attached to
the said regiment, as shall by the said field-officers, and the commissioned officers of the respective companies,
be adjudged too indigent to purchase at their own expense a rifle and such necessary accoutrements, the expense
whereof the treasurer of the western shore is hereby directed to defray out of any unappropriated money in the
treasury.
RESOLVED, That the governor and council be and they are authorised and required to purchase for the use
of the different companies of artillerists and. engineers which now are, or may hereafter be, legally organized in
this state, a sufficient number of cannon of the proper weight and caliber, the expense whereof the treasurer of
the western shore is hereby directed to defray out of any unappropriated money in the treasury.

On notion, the question was put, That the supplement to an act to establish a bank, and incorporate r com-
pany, under the name of The Farmers Bank of Maryland, and for other purposes, be made the order of the day
for Thursday nest? Determined in the negative.
The question was then put, That the same have a second reading on to-morrow? Resolved in the affirmative.
The bill directing the register of wills for Baltimore county to deliver to the persons therein named the last
will and testament of Robert Burney, was read the second time by especial order and passed.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to reduce into
one the several acts of assembly respecting elections, and to regulate said elections. ORDERED, That Mr. Seth,
Mr. Stevens and Mr. Kerr, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
Mr. Biggs, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled. An act for the relief of John Troxal,
of Frederick county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
On motion, That leave be given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to prevent the erection of any bank, or
other monied institution, without the consent of the state being thereto first had and obtained? the question
was put, That the same be postponed? Resolved in the affirmative.
A petition from Alfred Jones, an alien, praying he may be authorised to hold real property, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Sudler, Mr. Bruce and Mr. Jackson, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from Joseph Leonard, of the city of Baltimore, praying that deeds executed by him, while an alien,
may be confirmed, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Little and Mr. Shaaff, to consider
and report thereon.
The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

The bill directing life register of wills for Baltimore county to deliver over to the persons therein mentioned
the last will and testament of Robert Burney, was sent to the senate by the clerk.
