118 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807.

The further addittional supplement to an act relating to negroes, and the bill to establish a market, and to build
a market-house, in the eastern precincts of Baltimore, and for the regulation of the same, were read the second
time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill to punish crimes, offences and misdemeanors, committed on the waters of the Chesapeake bay with
in the territorial jurisdiction of the state of Maryland, and for other purposes, and the bill to pay the civil list,
and other expenses of civil government, were read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

On the second reading of the resolution in favour of Rachel Roberts, the question was put, That the further
consideration of the same be referred to the first day of June next? Resolved in the affirmative.

The following resolution was read, assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto John Sullivan, messenger to the court of chart-
eery, the sum of fifty dollars, as a compensation for his services for the last year.

On the second reading of the report of the committee on the memorial of Nicholas Brewer, register in chan-
cery, the question was put, That the further consideration of the same be referred to the first day of June next?
Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the house assent to the resolution therein contained! The yeas and nays,
being required, appeared as follow :

The amendments proposed to the bill to abolish all such parts of the constitution and form of government as
relate to the time and manner of electing the senate, and the mode of filling up vacancies in that body, was read
the second time, and the question gut, That the house assent to the 1st amendment? Determined in the nega-
tive.

The question was then put, That the house assent to the 2d amendment? The yeas and nays being required,
appeared as follow :

ORDERED, That the bill, entitled, An act to abolish all such parts of the constitution and form of govern-
ment as relate to the time and manner of electing the senate, and mode of filling up the vacancies in that body,
together with the amendments proposed by the senate, be entered ait length upon the votes and proceedings of
this house for the information of the citizens of this state.

On the second reading of the bill to ascertain and establish a permanent salary for the governor of this state,
the question was put, That the blank therein be filled up with 4000 dollars? Determined in the negative.

The question was then put on 3500 dollars. Determined in the negative.

The question was then put on 3200 dollars. Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the further consideration of the same be referred to the next general assem-
bly? Resolved in the affirmative.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A further supplement to the act, entitled, An act autho-
rising Thomas Bailey, late sheriff and collactor of Baltimore county, to complete his collection, and for other
purposes. ORDERED, That Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Little and Mr. Harryman, be a committee to prepare and
bring in the same.

On the second reading of the report of the committee on the memorial of John Kilty, Esquire, the question
was put, That the blank in the resolution therein contained be filled up with the words "one thousand dollars?"
Determined in the negative.

The question was then put on 500 dollars." The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:
