The clerk of the senate delivers the resolution relative to the government-house, endorsed " assented to. "
Also the bill annulling the marriage of Benjamin Furguson and Ruth his wife, or Caecil county, endorsed "will
pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. And the bill making an addition to the name of Thomas Porter, of the city
of Baltimore, endorsed " will not pass. "

ORDERED, That the committee of claims close the journal of accounts including Sunday next.

On the second reading of the report of the committee relative to the penitentiary, the question was put,.
That the blank therein be filled up with the words " thirty thousand" Determined in the negative.

The question was then put on " twenty thousand. " Resolved in the affirmative.

The question was then put, That the house concur with said report, and assent to the resolution therein
contained? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

The bill for the benefit of the sheriffs of the several counties of this state, was read the second time, and the
question put, Shall the said bill pass? Determined in the negative.

The following resolution was read the first and second time by especial order and assented to:

RESOLVED, That all proceedings be stayed on a judgment obtained against John Smilh Brookes, of Prince-
George's county, at the suit of the stale, until the first day of December next, on his paying tip all the interest
due thereon; provided, that nothing herein contained shall preclude the state from issuing any execution on the
said judgment, after the expiration of the said stay, for the recovery of such sum or sums of money as shall or
may be due thereon.

Which was sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill for the punishment of forgery, and for other purposes, was read the second time, passed, and sent to
the senate by the clerk.

The bill authorising a lottery in the city of Baltimore to raise a sum of money for the purposes therein men-
tioned, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. M'Pherson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to make public a road in
Charles county; which was read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by
the clerk.

A memorial from Frederick Green, praying an increase of salary, and a reference of his claim to the judges
of the county court, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Chapman, Mr. Davis and Mr. Shaaff, to consider
and report thereon.

Mr. Street, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further supplement to an act, en-
titled, An act to streighten part of the road in Harford county which leads from Underhill's mill to the city of
Baltimore; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Frisby, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled. An act annulling the marriage of Ju-
liana Cook and George Cook her husband, of the city of Baltimore; which was read the first time and ordered
to lie on the table.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill annulling the marriage of Sally Lutig and John G. Lutig;, endorsed
" will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. The bill to alter such parts of the constitution and form of govern-
ment as relate to voters and qualifications of voters, endorsed " will not pass. " The bill to restrain the evil
practices arising from free negroes keeping dogs, and to prohibit them from carrying guns or offensive weapons,
endorsed " will pass with the proposed amendment; " which amendment was read, and the bill ordered to be
engrossed. And the resolution in favour of Cornelius Manning, endorsed " dissented from. "

Mr. Merriken, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Joseph Howard, administrator de bonis non of Joseph
Howard, deceased, Brice Howard, executor of Thomas Cornelius Howard, deceased, of Anne-Arundel county,
George Howard, administrator de bonis non of Brice Howard, deceased, of the city of Baltimore, report, that
they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that the prayer thereof is reasonable and
ought to be granted; they therefore submit the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and required to pay to
Joseph Howard, administrator de bonis non of Joseph Howard, deceased, Brice Howard, executor of Thomas
Cornelius 'Howard, deceased, of Anne-Arundel county, and George Howard, administrator de bonis non of
Brice Howard, deceased, of the city of Baltimore, or to their order, the sum of seventy pounds sixteen shil-
lings and six-pence, of bills of credit emitted in June, seventeen hundred, and eighty, being the same money
heretofore deposited in the treasury on account of John and Gilbert Buchanan, merchants of Loudon, upon the
