72 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806.

A petition from Cornelius Manning, of Saint-Mary's county, praying an allowance for deficiency in land pur-
chased by his father of the state, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. W H. Brown, Mr. Blakistone and
Mr. Gardiner, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Merriken, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Patrick Macgill, of Anne-Arundel county, report,
that they have had the same under their consideration, ard are of opinion that the prayer thereof ought not to
be granted, and that the petitioner have liberty to withdraw his petition.

By order, GASSAWAY, clk.

Which was read the first and second time by especial order and concurred with.
The order, relative to printing the bill relating to the equity jurisdiction of the several county courts of this
state, was read the second time, and the question put. That the house agree to the same? The yea and nay
being required, appeared as follow:

SATURDAY, December 27, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Comegys appears in the house.

The supplement to an act, entitled, An act authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money to purchase a fire
engine, and to purchase ground and build a school-house, in Rockville, in Montgomery county, the further sup-
plement to an ail for the more effectual collection of the county charges in Allegany county, the supplement to:
an act to appoint a wreckmaster for Worcester county, the bill annulling the marriage of William Booth and
Jane Booth, and the bill to lay out, open and improve, the road leading from Hancock, in Washington county, to
Cumberland, in Allegany county, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act for the better regulation of fees to the deputies
of the attorney-general. ORDERED, That Mr. Pearce, Mr. Comegys and Mr. Kerr, be a committee to prepare
and bring in the came.

Mr. Martin, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to alter such parts of the
constitution and form of government as relate to voters and qualifications of voters; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill for the benefit of Elizabeth Webster, of the city of Baltimore, was read the second time, passed,
and sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from Ebenezer Perkins, of Kent county, praying a suit brought by him in Kent county court be
reinstated, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee of grievances and courts of justice.

A petition from William Bonner, of Dorchester county, praying that a certain deed may be made valid, was
preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Dennis, Mr. Smoot, Mr. Ward, Mr. Shaaff and Mr. Winder, to consider
and report thereon.

ORDERED, That Mr. Winder, Mr. Watts and Mr. Mitchell, be a committee to examine what service, (not a
part of his official duty, ) the clerk of the house of delegates has rendered in the arrangement in alphabetical
order the papers belonging to the house of delegates, and report what in their opinion would be a compensa-
tion for the same.

On motion, Leave given to bring; in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act to reduce into one the several
acts of assembly respecting elections, and to regulate said elections. ORDERED, That Mr. Bruce, Mr. Briscoe
and Mr. Rizer, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

Mr. Watts. from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to tax bank stock; which was
read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Frisby, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a. bill, entitled. An act to provide for the trial of
certain causes depending in the court of appeals, and for other purposes; which was read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table.

The supplement to an act, entitled, An ac! to provide for the appointment of commissioners for the regula-
tion and improvement of Cambridge, in Dorchester county, and to establish and regulate a market in said town,
was read the second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
