TUESDAY, December 23, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
The resolution in favour of George Fitzhugh, the bill to lay out and open a road in Washington County, and
the further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act relating to public roads in this state, and to repeal
the acts of assembly therein mentioned, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from Philip Barton key, praying a resolution may pass authorising and empowering the attorney-
general or some other person to execute, in the name and on behalf of the state, such conveyance or release as
may be necessary to vest in him the legal title to certain land, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Shaaff,
Mr. Watts and Mr Winder, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Caroline county, praying for a new bridge across Tuckahoe creek, was
preferred, rend, and referred to the committee appointed on a petition of a similar nature.

A petition from Philemon Dawson, of the city of Baltimore, counter to the petition of Gabriel Thomas, was
preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition to which it is counter.

A petition from Simon Frize, of Baltimore county, praying a special act of insolvency, was preferred, read,
and referred to the committee appointed or petitions of a similar nature.

Mr. Kuhn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Richard Butler, of Frederick county, report, that
they have taken the same into consideration, and the allegations therein stated appearing to be true, are of opi-
nion that the petitioner is entitled to a depreciation of pay as deputy-quartermaster of Frederick county, from
the 14th of September, 1779, to the 15th of March, 1780, amounting to the sum of £. 52 7 10, with interest
thereon from the aforesaid 15th of March, 1780, they therefore recommend the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to Richard Butler, of Frederick county, or order,
the sum of fifty-two pounds seven shillings and ten-pence, with interest thereon from the 15th of March, 1780,
being the depreciation due him on his pay as deputy quartermaster at Frederick-town, in Frederick county.

By order, N. MARTIN, clk.
Which was read.

A petition from William Jackson, of Caroline county, praying that n certain deed may be recorded, was pre-
ferred, read, and referred to Mr. Bayard, Mr. Turpin and Mr. Sudler, to consider and report thereon.

A memorial from the Trustees of Allegany county school, praying an increase of their donation, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Briscoe, Mr. Beall and Mr. Bruce, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Ward, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act relating to orphans; which

was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from William Hughlett, counter to the petition of William Jackson, Was preferred, read, and re-
ferred to the committee appointed on the petition to which it is counter.
