On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act authorising
Thomas Bailey, late sheriff and collector of Baltimore county, to complete his collection, and for other purposes.
ORDERED, That Mr. Winder, Mr. Little and Mr. Aisquith, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
The bill to compel justices of the peace to take cognizance of persons retailing spirituous liquors without li-
cence in the recess of court, and for other purposes, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate
by the clerk.

Mr. Aisquith, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising the extension
of, the Falls turnpike road towards the line of the state of Pennsylvania; which was read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table.
ORDERED, That the same have a second reading on Tuesday, next.
ORDERED, That the bill authorising the state under certain restrictions to become a stockholder in the Che-
sapeake and Delaware canal, have a second reading on Saturday next.
The house proceeded to the second reading of the report of the committee on the memorial of the commissi-
oners to superintend the erection of a penitentiary, and, on progression, the question was put, That the blank
in the resolution therein contained be filled up with the words "fifty thousand?" Determined in the nega-
tive.
The question was then put, That the further consideration of the same be postponed? Resolved in the affir-
mative.
A petition from Samuel Welsh, of Baltimore county, praying a special act of insolvency, was preferred, read,
and referred to the committee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of Anne-Arundel, Montgomery and Prince-George's counties, praying
that a bridge may be erected across Patuxent river at or near the mill of John Crow, was preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. Hall, Mr. Darne, Mr. Woodward, Mr. G. D. Hodges and Mr. Belt, to consider and report
thereon.
Mr. Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act annulling the marriage
of William Booth and Jane Booth; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of George Fitzhugh, of Baltimore county, state, that
they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that the prayer of the petitioner is reasonable
and just, and ought to be granted, the petitioner having established, to the satisfaction of the committee, the
several allegations contained in his petition; they therefore beg leave to submit the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and required to pay to
George Fitzhugh, of Baltimore county, or bis order, the sum of ??, out of any unappropriated money in
the treasury.
