The house, according to the order of the day, proceeded to the second reading of the bill for the encourage-
ment of learning in. this state, and for other purposes, and on progression in reading the same, the question
was put, That the words " to be apportioned among the several counties, according to the federal census, in

On motion, the house resumed the consideration of the preceding part of said bill; on progression, the ques-
tion was put, That the words " eleven hundred and sixty dollars" be inserted after the words " Saint-Mary's

On motion, the question was put, That the bill relating to the jurisdiction of the high court of chancery, and the.
equity jurisdiction of the several county courts of this state, now h ave a second reading? Resolved in the affirmative.
The house proceeded to the second reading of the same, and, on progression, the question was put, That
the words "to the jurisdiction of the high court of chancery and" be stricken out of the title thereof? Re-
solved in the affirmative.
On further progression, the -question was put, That the words " where the matter or thing in dispute shall
