48 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore county, praying that a stone bridge may be erected over the
falls of Gunpowder, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Harryman, Mr. Street, Mr, Bond, Mr. M. Brown
and Mr. Little, to consider and report thereon.

The house proceeded to the second reading, of the additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act to ascer-
tain the allowance to jurymen and witnesses of the general court, and the several county and orphans courts in
this state; which being read throughout, the question was put, Shall the said bill pass? The yeas and nays be-
ing required, appeared as follow:

So it was determined in the negative.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore county, praying a division of said county, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Little, Mr. M. Brown, Mr, Harryman, Mr. Bond, Mr. Street, Mr. Smoot and Mr.
Aisquith, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, the question was put, That leave be given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to increase the al-
lowance to jurymen in the several counties in this state? Determined in the negative.
Mr. Aisquith, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Absalom Barney Tracey, John Barney Tracey, Willi-
am Barney Tracey, Amelia Barney Tracey, Thomas Barney Tracey and Moses Barney Tracey, praying their
names may be changed to the name of Gill, report, that they have taken the same into their consideration, and
are of opinion, that under the information they have on the subject it would be improper to grant the prayer of
said petitioners.

By order, J. S. SKINNER, clk.
Which was read the first and second time by especial order and concurred with.

The bill for the relief of Samuel Jones, of the city of Baltimore, was read the second time and passed.
Mr. Biggs, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to invest certain powers in
the levy court of Frederick county for the purposes, therein mentioned; which, was read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to lay out, open and improve, the road leading
from Hancock, in Washington county, to Cumberland, in Allegany county. ORDERED, That Mr. Bruce, Mr.
Bowles and Mr. Briscoe, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

The bill for the benefit of John Munickhuysen, and others, was read the second time and passed.
The report on the petition of Nicholas Leaman was read the second time, and the resolution therein contain-
ed assented to.

Mr. Bruce, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising the levy court of,
Allegany county to levy a sum of money for the purposes therein mentioned; which was read the first and se-
cond time by especial order and passed.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

FRIDAY, December 12, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The bill authorising the levy court of Allegany county to levy a sum of money for the purposes therein men-
tioned, the bill for the benefit of John Munickhuysen, and others, the bill for the relief of Samuel Jones, of
the city of Baltimore, and the resolution in favour of Nicholas Leaman, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, ORDERED, That the further supplement to the act, entitled, An act for erecting a village at
Choptank bridge, in Caroline county, and for other purposes therein mentioned, be recommitted for amendment.

The bill to enable the levy court of Washington county to alter and change the direction of a road therein
mentioned, and the bill to prevent the going at large of swine in the village of Hillsborough, in Caroline coun-
ty, and for other purposes therein mentioned, were read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the
clerk.

Mr. Street, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a. bill, entitled, A supplement to an act to reduce
into one the several acts of assembly respecting elections, and to regulate said elections; which was read the
first time and ordered to lie on the table.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An
act relating to public roads in this state, and to repeal the acts of assembly therein mentioned, ORDERED, That
