TUESDAY, December 24, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Bowles, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising Jacob Schnebly,
late collector of Washington county, to complete his collection; which was read the first time and ordered to
lie on the table.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Harford county, praying a law may pass appointing commissioners to
review, lay out and streighten, the public road leading from the stone-house, called Smith's Stone-House, to
Havre-de-Grace, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Ayres and Mr. Street, to consi-
der and report thereon.

Petitions from Patrick Mulligen, John Boyd and Thomas Crain, of Baltimore county, praying acts of insol-
vency, were preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.

Mr. Waters, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act to establish
bank, and incorporate a company, under the name of The Farmers Bank of Maryland, and for other purposes;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Harford county, stating, that a road had been laid out from the east of
John Clendenin's lane, until it intersected the road leading from Coop-town to Belle-Air, and praying that the
tame may be extended, by appointing commissioners to streighten and amend the same, beginning where it inter-
sected the road leading from Coop-town to Belle-Air, and end at the Rock Ford on the Little Falls, was pre-
ferred, read, and referred to Mr. Street, Mr. Ayres and Mr. Montgomery, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Gleaves, Mr. Hanson, Mr. Van-Horn, Mr. Holland, Mr. R. Mackall and Mr. B. Mackall, have leave
of absence.

The bill to authorise and empower the levy court of Baltimore county to assess and levy a sum of money for
the purpose therein mentioned, was read the second time and passed.

Mr. Bruce, from the. committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An additional supplement to an act,
entitled, An act to extend the powers of the levy court of Allegany county relative to roads in said county;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from the trustees of the poor of Baltimore county, giving a statement of their proceedings, and
praying a provision by law to place the funds necessary to prosecute the duties of their appointment on a less
precarious basis than the levy court, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Ellicott, Mr. Stephen, Mr.
Lemmon, Mr. Harryman and Mr. Ogden, to consider and report thereon.

The further supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the better regulation of apprentices, was read the se-
cond time and passed.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A farther supplement to the act for the relief of credi-
tors, and to prevent frauds and deceits occasioned by secret sales, and mortgages and gifts, of goods and chat-
tels. ORDERED, That Mr. Bruce, Mr. Ellicott and Mr. Montgomery, be a committee to prepare and bring in
the same.

Mr. Stephen, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act compelling the proprietors
of lots binding on the water at the west end of the bason in the city of Baltimore to extend and improve the
same; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

ORDERED, That the printer to the state strike one hundred copies of the said bill for the use of the legisla-
ture.

Mr. Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to lay out and streighten
a certain road in Baltimore county; which was read tive first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Stephen, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry inhabitants of the city of Baltimore, praying
an extension of Pratt-street, report, that they have considered the same, and are of opinion that it would be
unwise and improper to act thereon at the present session of the legislature, by reason of the uncertain effect
which such extension would produce, and the variety of conflicting interests involved therein: For the purpose
therefore of fully ascertaining these preliminary points, essential to be accurately understood prior to a just le-
gislative decision upon the subject, your committee beg leave to recommend a reference of the said petition to
the consideration of the next general assembly.
