NEGATIVE.

Scott, Holland, Ogden, Hyland, Blake, Kahn, Turpin, Carroll,
Hanson, B. Mackall, Spencer, Frazier, Sudler. Montgomery, Jump, Selby,

Gale, Parnham. Lloyd, Ennalls, Waters, Ayres, Bowles, Tomlinson,
Merriken, M'Pherson, Dickinson, Ward, Cockey, Bayard, Yates, Rizer. 36.

Higgins, Chapman, Jackson, Cox,

So it was determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the said blank be filled up with the sum of 600 dollars ? Resolved in the

affirmative.

On motion, ORDERED, That the further consideration of the said bill be postponed until to-morrow.

Mr. Montgomery, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to provide for the
organization and regulation of the courts of common law in this state, and for the administration of justice
therein; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

ORDERED, That the printer to the state strike five hundred copies of said bill for the use of the legis-
lature.

Mr. Montgomery, from the committee, also delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to alter and change
the name of William Sentee, of Harford county, to the name of Carlen; which was read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table.

A memorial from the visitors and governors of St. John's college, praying to be heard by counsel at the bar
of this house in defence of that institution, was preferred and read.

The following order was read, viz.

ORDERED, That the bill, entitled, An act to withdraw the funds from Washington and St. John's colleges,
and subject the same to the appropriation of the legislature, be postponed until the 31st instant, and that the
visitors and governors of said college be heard at the bar of this house, by their counsel, on the said day.

And the question put, Will the house agree to the said order ? The yeas and nays being required, appeared

as follow:

The clerk of the senate delivers sundry papers, the reading of which was postponed until to-morrow.

The house adjourns until to-morrow rooming 9 o'clock.

FRIDAY, December 20, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The papers delivered yesterday by the clerk of the senate, are as follow:

A letter from Samuel Chase, praying an examination of his account as late agent for the bank stock, and that
his bond might be delivered up; which was read, and referred to Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Somervell, Mr. Shaaff,
Mr. Stephen and Mr. Van-Horn, to consider and report thereon. The resolutions in favour of Joseph Mills,
James Boarman, William Gardiner and John Newton, severally endorsed, " dissented, from. " The resolutions
in favour of Thomas Jackson and Henry Haskins, Philip Key and John B. Beall, severally endorsed, " assented
to. " The bill for the relief of John Carnan and Abraham Pennington, insolvent debtors, of Caecil county, and
the bill for the relief of Richard Waters, of Wm. Ezekiel Gilliss and Richard. Minish, of Somerset county,
severally endorsed, " will not pass. "

Mr. Stephen, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further additional supplement
to "the act, entitled, An act to direct descents; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Van-Horn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An additional supplement to an
act, entitled, An act to lay out and establish a road from the city of Annapolis to the city of Washington, and
to repeal the act therein mentioned; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Bruce, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report, as amended.

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Patrick Murdock, of Allegany county, report, that
they have taken the same into consideration, and from examination of the different vouchers and certificates
given by the surveyor, it appears there is about the quantity of two hundred acres of land deficient, and beg
leave to submit the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and directed to pay to
Patrick Murdock, or order, of Allegany county, sixty dollars, the same being a full compensation for, and in-
