titled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act for regulating the mode of staying execution, and repealing the
acts of assembly therein mentioned, and for other purposes; which was read the first time and ordered to lie
on the table.

On motion, the question was put, That the supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the direction of she-
riffs and coroners in the return of jurors, and tor the better regulation of juries, now have a second reading ?
Resolved in the affirmative.

The question was then put, That the said bill have a second reading on Monday the 23d instant ? Determined
in the negative.

The question was then put, That the same have a second reading on Monday the 16th instant ? Resolved in

A petition from Mountjoy Bayly, of Washington county, praying an act of insolvency, was preferred, read,

mas and John Carvil Hynson, Jun. of Kent county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Stephen, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act to incor-
porate a company to make a turnpike road to lead from the cross roads near Richard Caton's limekiln, in Balti-
more county, nearly in the direction of Jones's Falls, to the city of Baltimore; which was read the first time
and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from Rinaldo Johnson, of Prince-George's county, praying some compensation for collecting and
paying into the treasury the balances due Thomas Williams, late. collector of said county, was preferred, read,
and referred to Mr. Callis, Mr. Stephen and Mr. Plater, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Watts, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to appoint Elizabeth Crabb
and Richard Orme, of Montgomery county, trustees for locating and transferring certain lands lying in Mont-
gomery county, part of the real estate of the late Jeremiah Crabb, deceased; which was read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.

On motion, ORDERED, That the printer to the state strike one hundred of the said bill for the use of the
legislature.

Mr. Watts, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for an addition to the town
of Rockville, in Montgomery county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

MONDAY, December 16, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on Saturday, except Mr. Ringgold and Mr. Ellicott. The
proceedings of Saturday were read. Mr. Stuart and Mr. Holland appear In the house. Mr. Holbrook, Mr.
Smoot and Mr. Street, have leave of absence for a few days.

Petitions from William Furniss, of Somerset county, James Roper, of Talbot county, and Thomas Adlum,
of Harford county, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed
on petitions of a similar nature.

On motion, the question was put, That the bill to streighten and amend the old road leading from Randall's-
town to George Beams's, commonly called The Liberty-town Road now have a second reading? Resolved in
the affirmative.

On motion, the question was then put, That the further consideration of the same be postponed until Friday
the 20th instant ? Resolved in the affirmative.

On motion,. Leave given to bring in a bill to establish permanent salaries for the judges of the six judicial
districts in this state. ORDERED, That Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Stephen and Mr. Lloyd, be a committee to pre-
pare and bring in the same.

A petition from John Smith Brookes, of Prince-George's county, praying to be indulged in the payment of a
debt due by him to the state, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Contee, Mr. Van-Horn and Mr. Ellicott,
to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Charles Gardiner, of Charles county, praying to be indulged in the payment of a debt due
by him to the state, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. M'Pherson, Mr. Chapman and Mr. Parnham, to
consider and report thereon.

A petition from James Rice and Mary Wolf, of Frederick county, praying a law may pass authorising them
to sell part of lot No. 74, late the property of William Rice, deceased, was preferred, read, and referred to
Mr. Kuhn, Mr. Hawkins and Mr. Waters, to consider and report thereon.
